JBL Speaker kit help please

I have searched but can't find this :iono: so I'm asking away...

I am looking at putting JBL speakers into my car but don't want the sub or amp that come with the JBL 86 speaker kit (or the Toyota markup on the prices!).

I am assuming though that they kit contains readily available JBL speakers that fit the stock speaker enclosures.

Does anyone know the JBL speaker model numbers etc that are included as the nine speakers in the JBL speaker kit - Toyota Part PZ490-13250-AO.

Appreciate the assistance.

On ebay

Most links are to other forums and will likely be blocked but here's the installation guide - unfortunately no specs for the actual speakers.

Never seen a JBL optional speaker set, I doubt they would be off the shelf JBL stuff but its possible. Do you have a link to it?

Given JBL are an American firm I am assuming the speakers in the pack aren't specially manufactured for the small 86 market but are repackaged "normal" JBL speakers.

Hopefully someone has seen the pack and might have JBL part numbers rtaher than the Toyota part number.

I'm sure its nice but seeing that price I understand why you would want to get it cheaper, I'd like to hear it though. I've always been satisfied with JBL products.

It doesn't sound great to be honest. If you did a decent install, with some sound deadening and used a proper amp and processor, it'd be considerably better. In my opinion the stock setup has tighter bass control due to not having a slow sub in the boot/trunk muddying the sound. Needs some serious time alignment to help that.

Thanks.

As mentioned though I am not looking at the sub in the boot so shouldn't have that issue. I'm too old for bass! I am just looking at getting the JBL speakers to go with my android head unit I have installed.

Got what I wanted - gauges using carscope and torque but now want the sound quality to be a bit better. Sound is already better than stock IMHO but I think replacing the speakers would be as good as I need it.

If all you intend to do is swap speakers then you will be very disappointed with the JBL kit. You can get considerably sound for less money, albeit with a tiny bit more work (it's not hard making up a couple of mounting baffles).

You really need an amp though for any choice of speakers.

A sub that fits in your spare tire well would be sweet.

I would get this JBL 3 way kit, should be all you need for the front stage.

Thanks @JoeBoxer for pointing me in the right direction.

Having this set installed as we "speak". Seem to fit really well.

Didn't know there was a GTO 3 way system either, i don't know if these are even available in the states. The ones on ebay are a great deal, somebody should definitely pick those up and no it's not my auction lol.
