coolest shift knob

haha you thought there were gonna be pictures in here, but really its just a question.

I live in Texas, summers are hot. what shift knobs do people use that stay cool in summer? I saw some of the flossy knobs have a coating on them, does that help? or should i just look for something leather/fabric wrapped?

Delrin comes highly recommended to resist heat. I like the leather wrapping of the OEM and will stick with it until wear takes its toll.

I have the white STI Duracon shiftknob and it gets surprisingly hot in San Antonio summers.

I'm certain all materials will absorb some degree of heat, but polyoxymethylene is touted as having high heat resistance. It would be wise to get the windows wrapped in a ceramic tint to minimize the heat entering the cabin.

Can always just keep a sock in the glove box to for the 5 minutes it takes for the shift knob to cool off.

^ or put the sock over the shift know when ever you leave the car in the sun so the knob never heats up in the first place

Something plastic or composite - delrin, duracon, carbon fiber perhaps? Lighter colors will obviously absorb less heat. This is the one I'd look for, personally:

Composites absorb less heat than metals due to lower thermal conductivity, and shift knobs with less mass will retain less heat than heavier ones.

My WC Latheworks copolymer knob is cooler than my leather steering wheel on most hot days. There have been some days when it got the knob up pretty hot, but having driving gloves in the car helps. I have Ceramic Tint 45% Front and 35% Rear window.
