I have wanted a set of gold Advan RGs since I first saw them on Honda Civic hatches back in the early 2000s. I definitely couldn't afford them back then, but I finally have the latest iteration to put on my own BRZ. The new setup will be:

Advan RG-D 18x9.5 +40 Gold
Michelin Pilot Super Sport 265/35/18

I was inspired by @Jive Turkey to give the 265s a shot after having run Michelin PSS 245/35/18 for about 7 months now. My car has a Full Blown turbo kit and a full set of 08-12 STI brakes. I was originally worried that the wheels would not clear the calipers, so when I got home and saw the boxes at my door, I had to do a test fit. The wheels fit exactly as I exptected them to. They actually clear the front caliper better than my current WedsSport TC105n 18x8 +42s do. They barely clear the lower spring perch, but I am fixing that by purchasing coilovers. I ordered the tires last night, so I hope to have these on in a couple weeks. Here are the teaser test fit pics:

Thanks to @RavSpec for the great price on the Advans.

Define direct. You can find the answers you seek in my thread here:

Nice railway racer you got there. I'm a tarmac guy myself, but hey...

;)

Lookin good, love the blue/gold combo. Sure doesn't hurt that they're Advans.

So...just gonna toss the Weds then? There's room in the recycle bin I call my garage.

Looks good! Glad to see so many people doing 18x9.5 +40 all around. Definitely digging the square concave look! fyi I had to use a 3mm spacer for 18x9.5 +40 in the front to clear the spring perch. I am stock, not lowered

Looking Good Mr TuT!

The Weds are for sale.

Those wheels are great, I had a set of rg2 (very similar, but no "lip") replicas on my 95 civic hb back in high school and always wished I could afford the real deal haha

wrb+gold is the way it's meant to be!

The Advans look great. Was there much weight difference between them and the weds?

Well they are 1.5 inches wider, but I think the numbers say they are over 3 lbs heavier per wheel. They certainly feel heavier than I remember my Weds feeling.

They're going to look awesome, Chris--nicely done...

Forgot to say thanks to @RavSpec for the great price on the Advans.

I'm planning to get there in a couple months. So if I choose a 17" they wouldn't fit?

King Tut 05-17-2013 03:04 PM

You can still get 265s to fit on a 17" wheel if you want. You will need at least a 9" wide wheel.
