Transmission syncros/gearing issue

Hi Guys,

I have a M/T. I'm having an issue when I shift from 6th to 5th gear when I am driving over 75mph, there is a grinding feeling on the shift stick. Feeling like gears are grinding. I have the clutch 100% depressed and I still have the grinding feeling/noise when I down shift only from 6th to 5th travelling over 75mph. I'm thinking it is the syncros not meshing fast enough and causing the grinding. But I am not sure. If I have the clutch 100% depressed, gears wont come into contact with each other right?

How many miles have put on the car? Is the car warmed up? What CA metro area are you in?

Audible noise or just resistance in the shifter? I used to feel a harshness or feedback from the shifter when downshifting 6th to 5th at those kind of speeds. Haven't tried it recently.

I have a same issue, at the same speeds, and only when downshifting from 6th to 5th. I'm hoping there is some kind of minor change to remedy this.

I think I still have my thread in my signature where my transmission was grinding badly going into fourth. Ended up getting a new tranny, clutch and flywheel under warranty.

I have around 17K miles on my car. I live in the Riverside Vounty area near Corona and the OC.
There is a small resistance in shifting followed by grinding. I think the harshness in resistance is normal. I think it is a mechanism speeding up the transmission to match the revs of the engine. The grinding is not normal.
Glad to hear I'm not the only one having this issue.
So warranty may cover this; I hope...

Of course the dealer made me sign paperwork that if they found the cutc h was burnt or the tranny oil was not stock they would not be covering it under warranty and I would have to pay some insane dealer price.
