Conceal Carry and HandGun Thread

I havnt seen anyone post anything about guns. so i figured i start one lets just talk about guns

i have an XDM 9MM 5.25 and i just applied for my Conceal carry licenses a 2 weeks ago, i hope i get it soon =).
Is anyone else a carrying, what do you carry and what type of holster do you use?

ichitaka05 02-09-2012 07:39 PM

I think we used to have this topic (yrs & yrs ago).

Anyways, I'm currently debating to go buy PX4 or M&P (both 9mm). How you liking the XDM?

zoomzoomers 02-09-2012 07:40 PM

I live in Cali so the only thing we can conceal carry is a list of harsh language. You guys are lucky!

Neutral_Eyes 02-09-2012 10:27 PM

Only have a Beretta 96FS right now. Want something a little easier to carry.

XDM is pretty good gun for me, im a new shooter I am able to put some really good groupings (headshots) at 20meters. its a bit large, so im kinda worried about trying to conceal carry it. But i have consider getting the xdm compact version.

have you shot the PX4 or the M&P yet?

ichitaka05 02-10-2012 02:13 AM

Shot M&P yesterday (along w desert eagle), & gotta say M&P was a good gun. BUT a all guns there are pros & cons.
Pros:
Love the handle
Trigger pull is smooth & light
Fairly light
Not too harsh recoil

Cons:
Hated disassembling
Hated how pain to change the grips
No safety/de****er
Hated trigger setup (elbow thing)

I haven't shot PX4, but hopefully this weekend I'll rent one at the range. I've played w it lil bit & here's my pros & cons of PX4
Pros:
Disassembling was easy... Really easy! Gotta be stupid not able to disassemble it
Grip was great
Safety & De****er
DIY ambidextrous mag release

Cons
Front & rear grip is lil bit harsh on the hand
Trigger pull is stiff... Not too stiff, but stiffer than expect
Heavier than M&P (just lil bit)
Doesn't take steel case bullet (so I read/heard)

I always loved Beretta... But S&W sure made amazing gun also. My friend has Walther P99 & that's a great gun too. Hard choices

Really though. I have a compound hunting bow and a set of arrows. Lol

And I have a real Katana. :3

Was a gift to me from a friend back in JP.

And yes it's real. You can order it online but.. its special order.

Could cut through buncha bamboos if you have the right stance and energy. :D

I keep meaning to buy a Baby Desert Eagle (aka, IMI Jericho 941) and snag a conceal permit. Die-hard Otaku's will know why I want that gun.

Haven't decided on caliber. 9mm is cheaper and easier to find, but .40's got the greater stopping power.

statuskuo 02-10-2012 04:28 AM

H&K P30L 9mm :D Love it except for the trigger... *not conceal carry though :( I live in Cali this gun alone is off-list lol

It's in fact a iaito (training sword, with a blunt edge), so it can't even cut zombies :)

I've got one and love/hate it. Very easy to shoot accurately and very comfy. Very reliable too. Mags are hard to find and usually pricey and its a suck conceal carried weapon with the saftey where its at. Ive had mine, in .40, for about 7 years. No issues even after a few thousand rounds through it.

The wife has a subcompact xd9. Great cc weapon but shoots ok.

I've been eyeing this one for a while. Living in NYC is a pain though with all the gun regulations. I do frequently see scoped M16s at my base though... crazy stuff.

BTW, why would you want to carry a concealed weapon? Just out of curiosity.

There is a kendo/iaido/etc... gear importer close to where I used to live. Shinsakuto are ~ $8k+. Folded tamahagane-metal Japanese-made copies (basically the same but not made by toshyo so not technically 'genuine' katana) are ~$4k-6k. Ouch.

Ichi, I could probably make you some money if you wanted to charge Japanese working holiday guys a few buck to take them to a range. A bunch of my ESL students have asked me (all quiet and whispery) if there is a place where they can go shoot a gun. But I'm Canadian so I have no real clue about that, heh.

Afghan Vet 02-10-2012 10:11 PM

Picked up my permit today. Have a HK 40 USP Compact.... still a bit of a chunk if I want to carry concealed.

Heck yea they're expensive.

Its insanely crazy how people buy imitation katanas for so much. :/

I'm not going to use em for CW. Just for shooting at the range. My hand technically count as a weapon, I don't need anymore weapon lol

My friend do that. He make them buy the bullets and buy him dinner/lunch. That's how he get all the Asian chicks LMAO

I've never been to this range, heard commercials for it on the radio. Perhaps it's cheaper with Ichi? Guess it depends on the lunch!

Only ever shot 5.56 FMJ rounds... With something that's obviously not easy to conceal, or allowed to the general Canadian population. ;);)

My mom has a XD in 9mm but it's too small for my hands. I was looking at a Sig. Debating whether to go with a 9mm Sauer or just get a 22LR version called the Mosquito. I am favoring the 22LR for the cheap target practice, not really looking for a "deadly" sidearm.

Nonsense, luck has nothing to do with it.

Katana can't be "concealed carry," Giccin.

I meant legally.

For protection...you never know. I also carry as a small business owner that carries large sums of money or in some cases is shutting up shop late at night with myself and my machinist.

You won't need to conceal anything when zombies happen.

I have a PX4 in .40SW. I will agree that it's heavy...eventhough it's a "polymer frame" it feels just as heavy as my M9 Beretta. First double action trigger pull is as you say stiff but smoothe after that. I would not shoot steel case like Blazer in it or you will have failure to feed and failure to eject problems. It has interchangeable backstraps like the Glock Gen 4s so I haven't found the grip to be an issue for me. I bought it because my duty weapon is a M9/92F and all of my muscle memory transfers directly to the PX4 as their controls are exactly the same.

I carry a Glock 27 as my off duty CCP weapon. It's a .40SW "baby Glock". It rocks. Nothing else to say.

Maxim 02-12-2012 02:16 AM

For CC I have a Five-seveN - no recoil, high capacity, extremely light.

For everything else (hunting), I've got a Chiappa Rhino 6'' with the comp trigger, in .357.

MrVito 02-12-2012 11:34 AM

My daily CC weapon is a Kel Tec PF9HK usually in an Uncle Mikes pocket holster. I love the pf9 because it's small enough to comfortably carry in almost any pocket, but with the extension on the mag I can still get half a pinky on the bottom for a better grip. If I'm wearing certain coats or a suit I carry my XD9, which holster I use depends on the clothes with that one.

Actually probably one of the easier things to get in Canada. (Well at least in .223 depending on whether they have primer issues like the 7.62X51 vs .308) All you need is you Un-restricted PAL, and you're good to go for like a Mini-14. Or a CZ 853 (old soviet 7.62X39), which is basically a better-built AK47. No joke, so long as the mags are pinned to 5 rounds, and you don't even think of hunting with FMJ rounds.

Canadian gun laws are weird sometimes...

DieDriving 02-13-2012 10:07 PM

I got red hot temper so I dont own any gun otherwise the crossed street neightbors would have been capped long ago....i know people that know people that know people that know people who kill for a living so no need for me to do the dirty work :respekt:
