Purely Hypothetical T Tops :D
Ok so i may get flamed for this so go head.
BUT I think it would be awesome if our car had a T TOP mod, or spec. I mean it would take a lot of r/d and hell the technology was obviously outdated like 20 years ago, but i remember my dads z growing up had t tops and those were some of the best memories i had with him haha taking those off and looking like a badass. now i was just a youngster so from what he tells me it was actually a pain in the to put them on and off but for me its way more boss than a pure ragtop. Knowing next to nothing about technical safety information I dont know if this would even be possible without the risk of decapitation in a crash. But Look at the top of the car you can see where you put two panels on the sides or even one in the middle section ( i honestly dont know if that would work or look awful). But idk i really dislike ragtops, and hardtop convertibles are pretty heavy from what i understand. So forgive me for seeing a z today with his t tops off and being like damn. that is badass. http://www.web2carz.com/images/mmy/2...86_700x467.jpg tl:dr Would you want t tops? Or am i just being an idiot for nostolgia? :happy0180: Brandon ***edit not my car, just borrowed it from google because i didnt have a clear shot of my roof*** |
Targa top maybe, but no on the T for me.

The roof helps keeps the car rigid. They are using some new thin steel that
is stronger, to keep the weight off the roof and keep things tight for the twisties... I prefer it this way.. those things also eat up interior headroom.. |
Now I know there's some members whom wouldn't mind seeing a t-top on these cars. I know I wouldn't.
|
Targa top would be rad!

Especially on unibody cars.. Not hard to see how it won't be as rigid.. |

I would have bought T-tops in a heartbeat. Had them on three cars over the years, and loved them every time.
I never really understood the whole "they eat up space" thing though - when you have them off I can see it, but when they are on, not really. Besides, I didn't buy this car (or any sports car, for that matter) for it's practicality. If I wanted room, I'd have gotten an SUV. I wanted VROOM - hence sports car. |

From a purely racecar standpoint the coupe wins, it can be stiffer or lighter or both (most often this is the case with production cars), it's a silly argument though, 95% of drivers won't actually use the "better" chassis to it's full potential so it comes down to preference, and arguing that is just stroking your e-penis. |

I dunno but a small opening in the ceiling would make the interior feel a little less claustrophobic..

My dad had a 1982 911 Targa when I was a kid. I loved that car, and I'd definitely buy a targa 86.

I'm ready for my Purely Hypothetical V8 powered FR-S.
