Dent :( Will paintless dent removal be able to get this out?
Unfortunately I caught a curb at work. Front made it out fine, but the back caught the curb.
Was only going about 10-15 km/hr as I was pulling out from work, they just put in new larger sized curbs :-/ This is on the rocker panel / side skirt just by the passenger side door I was wondering if a paintless dent removal shop could get this out or would I have to go to a body shop? To late to call around now (will call around tomorrow) but I wanted to know what my options were if anybody knows http://oi44.tinypic.com/35c289f.jpg http://s22.postimg.org/q2bobcm2p/20130514_202638.jpg |

Body Shop from the looks of it.
You will probably have to replace that whole piece, and by the whole piece that's a big piece. One of our ESC members actually had his damaged from a snow bank. He replaced it, but it cost quite a bit. If I recall correctly that piece goes all the way back to your rear quarter panel. (one piece) I attached a highlight piece of what I mean by "1 piece" However this is all an assumption based on previous story of our ESC member, and your 2 photos. I would get it checked out. |
damn, didn't know it was one big piece. Looks like this might get pricey. Will definitely have it checked out tomorrow
Thanks |

Best picture I could find but you get the idea. https://fbcdn-sphotos-e-a.akamaihd.n...07882776_n.jpg |
Talk to the body shop and ask if they can use a Steck (?) Pull. They drill a few small holes, insert a curved rod to get behind the dent; sort of a reverse pounding and then lead the holes in and paint. That would be a lot cheaper than replacing the panel.

Thanks to everyone else for suggestions, going to make a few phone calls and will definitely update as soon as I find out |
I hhavee a similar, but smaller dent near the same spot. I don't recall hitting anything and I assume someone hit my car with some sort of cart or something.
Since my was smaller I was just thinking of sanding and painting it. |
PDR will absolutely be able to get it out. Just because the dent is on a unibody portion of the car means nothing. They will just suck it out, and tap it back down.
I had to get a similar repair done right above my b pillar, and the guy didn't have to go inside the panel at all. Looks perfect now. Basically anything that doesn't have a sharp crease to it, shouldn't be a problem. |
Hope you get that fixed soon :)

In nearly 6 months, I haven't ground the bottom of the FR-S once yet. The C6 I had before the FR-S (on the same DD routine) was both lower and longer in the nose, and that thing scraped so many times that a chunk of plastic underneath had to be replaced once, and the replacement was dangling again by the time I traded the car in. |
Well phoned a couple places and emailed a few. Some PDR places said they could not do it and a few others said they could.
Chipmaster in Markham quotes me the following " 1) Repair dents / scratches on right lower rocker panel 2) Prep rocker for refinish 3) Re apply stone guard 4) Blend base coat for perfect colour match 5) Refinish repairs" They have pretty good reviews so I think I will take it there. Price will be approx 350-400 |
Try dent doctor, they work miracles. A relative of mine had a canoe fall on his 911's front fender leaving a crease and they totally removed it with no signs at all.

We use ryan from straight edge, he is awesome. Based out of kitchener he comes right to the dealership her ein guelph, Its worth a try before gong to the body shop, $100 cash for a good dent removal or thousands in body work. best of luck

@wparsons I emailed Dent Doctor and they said that rocker panel cannot have PDR done on it.
@jamies31Kitchener is far from me, I am in Bolton so do not think that would work but thanks though! @Myv saw that to, that is with the group price. Final quote is 350. I am still going to drive to another PDR place on Saturday (Auto Magicians in Mississauga)for one last inspection. So far it is looking like PDR cannot be performed :( |

It can be repaired easily. The spot is actually good as the anti chip paint at the bottom will hide pry marks if the repair guy goes that route. I have done many repairs unnoticeable in areas like that.

:laughabove: replacing the entire shell like the Firestorm above is one huge piece! Lol
I got a door dent repaired with http://www.cardentmedic.ca/ and it worked out well. Worth the quote at least I think. Good luck with it! Just got another door dent today about 2 inches from my last repair. This time I won't be getting it fixed - luckily it's minor. So if it's not really critical you could also just live with it for a bit until your next dent repair. I do understand that it hurts too - good luck! |
I feel you pain, I've owned my FRS for about a week and have two mystery dents located on my hood and roof. I'm sure a good PDR guy can't get that out for you as I've seen many work wonders on some horrific dents! Also hoping mine can get removed as its an eyesore and a strike to the gut each time I hop into my car.
Anyway good luck with everything! Keep us updated! |
