Brake line degradation
 

I was under my FR-S today and notice that a portion of the rear brake line has degradation and a couple of the fittings have cracks in them. Has anyone else noticed this? I guess this means a trip to the dealer :mad0259:
BTW the car has 16kmi on it.

Looks like something got on them and ate away the outside? Not sure

Is that an e-brake cable? That doesn't look like a hydraulic brake line; I replaced all four this past weekend.

Not sure, they do seem to be hydraulic lines though ... maybe someone else knows :iono:

Doesn't look pretty. Is this where the under panels would come handy?

Picture one is not brake lines. Those are fuel lines. The fittings pictured are quick-disconnects which aren't used in brake lines for safety reasons. Additionally, except for the lengths between the body and knuckles, brake lines are metal.

The diameters of the lines in the second pictures are too large for brake lines as well.

There's a good amount of undercoating under the car. I think the overspray cracked on the flexible lines and let water get underneath. See if you can remove some of the overspray around the damaged areas with a fingernail or something that won't damage the fuel lines to see if the damage your're seeing is really in the lines.

Hmmm ... I thought there was only one fuel line coming from the pump?

There's some system to move fuel from one side of the saddle to the other. And I would say there was a return line, but I think I've read that this is a return-less system. (Not sure how the FPR bleeds off excess pump pressure...) There is also the Evaporative Emissions system which will have its own lines.

Those connectors are only used for fuel and coolant, and there's no coolant at the back end of this car.
