LSD Standard?

Has anyone heard if an LSD will be standard on these and if so, what type it is?

tripjammer 02-09-2012 10:51 AM

Torsen type...standard...on FRS and both BRZ models in Canada and the USA.

Rabble 02-09-2012 10:59 AM

Nah you're going to have to buy your LSD from the corner dealer and keepit hidden in the little cubby behind the passenger side panelling.

ichitaka05 02-09-2012 10:59 AM

yeah man

why you gotta discriminate against people with only one arm or leg?

Besides, automatics these days are getting better and better. Manual in this day and age really is for the die-hards.

This is from Scion's press release in the US:
"The power is put to the pavement via a standard Torsen limited-slip differential."

Also in the Subaru press release it says "Limited-slip rear differential is standard for all."

He's talking about the RC and G trim levels not being offered in the NA market.

OP is an obvious troll or most uniformed member.

Nope there's going to be a 5th wheel right in the middle of the car to power it.

Is torsen not considered mechanical? I thought it was, maybe I'm wrong.

Oye mate,
People with no legs can drive manuals too.

Where there is a wheel, there is a way!
ps. sorry to further derail

btw what kind of Torsen LSD will be used?

Future 04-10-2012 10:09 AM

The one that locks the wheels when you dorifto

Jeff Lange 04-10-2012 11:29 AM

It's a Torsen T2, same one that came in the 01-05 Lexus IS300.

This was the only reference to a "mechanical" [aka idiot speak for clutch-pack LSD] that I'm aware of. It's entirely likely it will surface in the form of an accessory or TRD branded aftermarket product down the road.

Just to get it off my chest, ALL differentials are mechanical. Open, clutch-pack, and ATB are all mechanical. When you add electrically controlled servos [et al] to an open diff, you're bolting electronics gizmos onto a *gasp* mechanical diff.

Grip Ronin 04-10-2012 06:24 PM

I was told at the ny auto show all model will have lsd starting at $24,945.didn't ask about auto or mt because I dont care about autos lol

Just add a hinge for easy access...

Great place for all kinds of stuff, lol

Jeff Lange 04-11-2012 03:39 AM

I would like to point out that the MA70/JZA70 Supra along with other cars use the same differential setup, and pretty much any clutch-pack LSD sold for those cars will fit, so there are already a ton of options out there.

Jeff
