HUD shift up and shift down display question

1 Attachment(s)
Theres a setting that says "G on" or "G off" (which you can toggle when the keys are in the acc position) which allows you to active the setting in the HUD which tells you which gear your in and when to shift for an economical drive.
When looking up close I can see other possible spaces like miles or km and other things. The one thing that I want to know is there's a down arrow under the shift up arrow (I mentioned first). Is there a setting to active that somehow?

Shouldn't it be pretty obvious if you want to shift down? I wouldn't want to be staring at that tiny screen to tell me to shift down while my car stalls and I slam into the back of the car in front of me...

Two things:

1) Do you really want a shift light for economy? I would find that very annoying, and

2) Our cars don't have a HUD.

that shift light for economy comes on after ive changed gears... so low rpms, prius technology

I use that shift light all the time. I believe the downshift activates with the upshift it just only goes off sub 1kish rpms or something like that when youre in gear with your foot on the gas.

Thanks to all the replies.
I wouldn't use it if I had it. I was just wondering. The up shift I find useful though. Especially when the fuel light comes on, makes cruising easier.
This is my first manual car and I was just using it as a guide. I don't look down at that all that much now
