Asphalt Scion Spoiler Trunk Swap

Hey fellow Asphalt FRS friends! I recently bought my 2nd FRS, but I was given a great deal only if I chose from dealership stock. Mine has the new Scion spoiler on it, but I prefer the clean no spoiler look.

So, if anybody wants to do a trunk swap (your trunk must have no damage) for my spoiler, it would only cost $200. The factory option is $400. My trunk still has the scion and the FR-S emblems.

Would prefer a local trade, but if you are farther away, we could meet up halfway or meet at Pure Automotive's shop.

That sounds like a deal...if I liked the factory spoiler, that is! Question? Do you notice a difference between having such a spoiler and not, while driving on the freeway? I too prefer the clean look, but believe adding a medium sized spoiler may help to alleviate the "leaf in the wind" sensation.

I was thinking of adding a funny reply to this but I'm really not sure how serious you are.

I have the JDM spoiler and let me just tell you, these spoilers are cosmetic addons only. The difference in drag coefficient is comically small. I know I've seen somewhere on the forum someone actually did have a number, but I don't understand drag coefficients and I'm bad at remembering numbers so I'm not going to guess at what it was.

Now one big difference is the trunk struts. If you do the trunk swap make sure you swap struts too. I don't have new struts and my trunk can't open itself under the weight of the spoiler haha.

Refer to the post above.. These spoilers aren't downforce spoilers, mostly for aesthetics. But yeah, it's a pretty good deal considering the cheapest spoilers painted in factory paint are $400-450. Are you in MD or close?

Yup yup. Not like it's an STi spoiler.

.27 Cd with the Limited/GT86 spoiler, .28 without it. .26 with the spoiler and underpanels as equipped in JDM land.

I heard allegations that it could be felt at sub-80mph speeds.

~60lbs of downforce @ 100MPH. ~140lbs @ 150mph.

Sidenote: I'd consider swapping my SWP BRZ Limited trunk for a wingless SWP or Whiteout trunk.

Yes Nat! I am serious. I point of the question is to determine if anyone who has driven an FRS with and without a spoiler (Typer has two of them) notices any differences on the freeway. No matter how small.

I can't imagine adding the carbon ducktail not adding any dwnforce or increased stability. According to an Option video I watched many moons ago, there was a spoiler test on a tracked RX7. If I recall correctly, even the most minute spoiler made a difference as they tested from zero to monster GT spoilers.

Many of you may not be aware of this... I've proven (8yrs of data) opening a moonroof so that it tilts, did in fact increase downforce every time I drove on the freeway. (at least 70mph, 1998 240SX SE)

Thanks! It's my DD and will be coming to an autocross sooner or later... Going to do a stock/baseline dyno run before certain "things" happen.

Cheers then. As Orbital pointed out there is indeed an improvement in drag coefficient with the Limited/GT86 spoiler which I have. I can only assume there is a similar difference with the USDM OEM spoiler as it has a very similar design.
