mid ohio track

I am thinking about doing a driving class at the mid ohio track. Its called advanced driving and runs $400 with my car, 500 with theirs. Seems to be a about 3 hours from my home. Anybody here ever go to one of these, or have any other options in Lexington/Louisville areas?

thanks for input

I don't know of any tracks at all in Kentucky. Mid Ohio is a great track though. I would need more info on this "driving class" to say whether the $400 is worth it, but if it is only $100 more to put the wear on their car, then that is probably worth it.

I'm running a two day HPDE there in Sept, $395 currently. It's Mon/Tues event, dinner/banquet included on monday night, etc.

I have known several people to do driving classes through mid-ohio and only have heard raving good reviews. They go into detail of teaching you the concepts of defensive driving and track driving. My good friend just did a $250 half day lesson that included skid pad, hard turns, and then ~18 laps in groups of 4-5 doing follow the leader (cycling through leaders). He said it was the best $250 he spent and would do it again in a heartbeat. The instructors are great and really try to have fun with it, as they give out style points and awards for drivers (based on fixing their hair, mirrors, playing with the radio, driving relaxed, etc. while on the track and passing). Mid-Ohio is sponsored by Honda, so their cars are the new Acura ILX (MT-performance(2.4L engine) or AT-normal(2.0L engine)) and they have some Honda S2000s that they will occasionally break out (probably for these advanced driving days). Hope this helps, but if you are on the fence I would encourage you to do it because of all the great reviews I have heard.

Yeah we are hoping to have a few of the school cars (probably the old ones) to play around with at our event since Honda is a sponsor.. we shall see :)
