Berk Dual Tip Muffler Delete Installed (before and after pics and video)
Just got my Berk dual-tip muffler delete yesterday, and couldn't wait to put it on this morning. Here are just a couple before/after pics and video.
Before: http://i.imgur.com/Sv1eHUG.jpg http://i.imgur.com/zovqvjV.jpg Berk muffler delete (NOTE: This piece comes with all necessary items to install EXCEPT the muffler hangars. So, either reuse the stock ones or pick up 2 new ones - it only needs 2, while the stock muffler needs 4): http://i.imgur.com/ey3Fq9z.jpg Berk vs Stock: http://i.imgur.com/MK8Z2tz.jpg http://i.imgur.com/2C8LcMI.jpg After: http://i.imgur.com/DPT5s8h.jpg http://i.imgur.com/g7YbhxL.jpg I know the tips are not centered in the last picture...remember when I said you had to reuse the stock hangars? Yeah, that was a lesson learned. I cut the old ones off, then realized the Berk piece didn't have them included, so I had to zip-tie it up until I could drive to the store down the street and buy two new ones. It's all fixed now. Video: [ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NVcRM-w0h4c"]Berk Dual-Tip Muffler Delete (2013 FR-S) Before and After - YouTube[/ame] To answer the common question, YES...it does drone. Accelerating and decelerating in gear is very loud, and resonates in the car pretty loudly. Driving around normally is loud, but no drone. There is also no drone while idling, and at revs above 5,000 (around there)...for some reason, the exhaust note changes around there, and the drone goes away. However, right around 2,000RPM there is a noticeable drone in the cabin...also any time the car is under load while under ~4,000RPM. I've already ordered an 18" resonator to quiet it down a little. If a moderator believes this would better fit in the exhaust section, please feel free to move it there! |
i have the works delete. it has a resonator and its pretty much still just as loud because a buddy of mine has the berk single tip delete and we compared it. both do give the cars a nice meaty sound.

That actually brings up a good point. Where is the resonator on the Works piece? Is it between the two tips? I was wondering if that would even be effective...seems to me if you put it before the flange it would work better, otherwise you're not doing much of anything to the exhaust from the driver's side tip
|
yeah, the works is between the two tips so the driver side isnt getting anything from it. however, the pipe starts to bend before the driver tip so its not getting the full force of the exhaust coming out.
