Unfortunately I don't work for any of them, but from what I've heard from friends that work there, Google definitely deserves where it is on the list.

my company ranks 101th so it's not up there :)
One note though: these are not base on pay rate alone.....i see several companies there not being known for well compensation....i guess it's about employees satisfaction, whatever that is.

Heh, I went to a Google sponsored event where they let us use their cafeteria area...their sandwiches are freaking amazing.

I wonder how they rank these because I don't see for example Facebook, which I heard is pretty comparable to Google. They pay slightly better too or something.

These look like publicly traded companies only??

How else would they obtain the data?

yayforaddison 02-08-2012 11:09 PM

I worked for Starbucks for a nearly two years (#73). Good place to work for. Great benefits, but that place paid very poorly, had high expectations, and we didn't get paid for how hard we worked.

I've been working for Enterprise as well where I get tons of respect from higher up, and have great opportunities to move up :)

Enterprise isn't on the list tho.

Private companies could be listed too. If you have over 500 shareholders, there are some requirements to publicly report earnings, balance sheets, and cash flows.

Typically it's the companies with the great fringe benefits that I see made the list.

My company is private so need for us to gloat about it. :D

Snoopyalien24 02-09-2012 01:31 AM

I hope to work @ #90!

These lists always need to be taken with a grain of salt. It's an opt in survey run by something called the Great Place to Work Institute, so only companies that want to be on it, get on it.
