You build your car into what you want it to be. You take off or add on what you think looks nice. Look in the Do it Yourself section on the forum. That should save you a ton of money.

Define low cost. I've only done what "I" consider low cost:

Shark fin from Beat Sonic
Exhaust tips from DC Sport
LED'S for the dome, trunk, license plate, and reverse lights from HID_POWERHOUSE
Console plaque from Yospeed

Some were more expensive than others, but, all were less than $200 and most less than $100. My build thread is here:

Try the Wal-Mart automotive department. They have some rad add-ons, for great prices! Personal faves are the flame decals (adds around 5hp) and hello kitty steering wheel cover (doesn't add any ponies, but god damn is it cute!).

I think its all just what you want to do to the vehicle. You can be cost effecient now, but youll eventually run out of cost effecient things to buy. Figure out what you want to do to the car i.e. track, daily, show etc then from there think what the cheapest parts are.

The first thing I did was buy the Subaru trunk lid liner for my FR-S even before I had my FR-S. Shortly after getting my car I eliminated the sound tube.
