Coming to Seattle, Need Tourist Info ha

Coming to seattle in about 1.5 Months just looking for where the best places to eat are, best coffee shops, any places I should visit while I am there (space needle etc)

Any ideas welcomed! I will be located near this address 110 6th Ave N Seattle, WA 98109 so anything walkable would be nice

PS, I am a falafel connoisseur so if you know where I can find the best one let me know!

Touge_ninja 05-10-2013 12:35 AM

No good falafel places here sadly. Most of the places I have been to are OK at most.

kanundrum 05-10-2013 12:36 AM

Awwww what the hipsters doing, the least they can do is make a decent falafel joint! haha thanks !

May have to keep this in mind, Post the best place out of all of them you can think of! My brother in law who will be coming with me loves all types of asian food.

Since you're staying in that area the space needle is a few blocks away if you're interested in that. You're also by the EMP (Experimental Music Project).

As for food you're close to Belltown and relatively close to Downtown. If you just want to hit all the popular spots (the ones on food network and travel channel), there's Serious Pie on 3rd and Virginia. I love their white truffle cheese pizza and some of his other restaurants (Lola, Dahlia Lounge, Dahlia Bakery) are all around there. Also, try Serious Biscuit in South Lake Union. If you're here on a weekday, go to Salumi in Pioneer Square, open 11-4 Tues-Fri. Go early! It's owned by Mario Batali's parents and if you're into food you probably watch Bourdain, he was there at the end of one of his episodes. People say it's overrated but I love that place. Otherwise Paseo's in Fremont or just go to Pike Place and roam around. Beecher's Cheese is really good too. Their other location is in Manhattan so you may have had it already. But honestly just Yelp something and walk around. Capitol Hill isn't far and all the hipsters are there. As much as I dislike hipsters, they always have good food.

As for coffee places, you'll have to ask someone else. I usually just drink starbucks cuz it's convenient or Stumptown. Kind of spoiled being in the NW lol

Awesome information!! Thanks!

For Korean BBQ we usually hit up shin sung in federal way. Come hungry leave happy :D

vwong 05-10-2013 01:59 AM

Yeah. I love food haha

You should try Walrus & Carpenter as well. It's owned by Renee Erickson and she's kinda blowing up right now. I don't know how long you are here but I would spend my time eating at places like that rather than Din Tai Fung (the Taiwanese chain that's only in LA and Bellevue in the US) or Salty's.

Seattle is more about the neighborhoods so if you can venture out to Ballard/Fremont/Capitol Hill/University District etc (i'm sure people have way more to add) you'll get more of a feel of what it's about here. Of course it all depends on how much time you have

Haha yeah good korean food is either in Lynnwood or Fed Way. My fav korean bbq is Kaya in shoreline but it's spendy. All the all you can eat ones are good deals and you will definitely eat your moneys worth.

haha another tourist trap...but when you're drunk that place is pretty amazing
ok one more to add since I just went there. Went to Shiro's in belltown and it's owned by one of Jiro's apprentices and it was as good as it was hyped up to be. Had their omakase and everything was super fresh ([ame="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jiro_Dreams_of_Sushi"]Jiro Dreams of Sushi - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia[/ame])
