No sir the best part about the Boss Coyote is all that power, torque, and revs all without the need for forced induction. N/A FTW baby

If I had the disposable income, I'd buy two of these cars: An FR-S for track duty, and a BRZ Limited for street. I learned the hard way that race parts are for race cars, not street cars. My MR2 went from a fun street car to an almost-race car and is no longer fun on the street. As such I'll probably turn it into a full track car and keep the BRZ street friendly. I won't cry if I accidentally stuff my 25-yr-old Toyota into a tire barrier, whereas I might if I did it in my brand new Subaru that I need to get me to work the following day...

Any word on a Spec-86 series in the States? I guess it could take a while; they only just announced a spec racing series for the 350Z this year. I think it would be a lot of fun for people with the budget - something different than Spec Miata, and a little higher skill than the B Spec series (Mazda 2, Fiesta, Fit).

I'm hoping to get a factory five 818 as a track car once I have a place to build it. The BRZ will be a commuter car for me that I can also use to learn RWD dynamics at autox and track days on weekends, skills that I can eventually transfer to the 818. There is a spec racing series for the factory five roadster so hopefully they'll do one for the 818 as well.

Yeah this. I can't wait to see what Factory Fives final product will look like!

I wouldsay the b spec takes more skill since errors are magnified with fwd and less HP

This car wasn't made to be a track car and probably won't be amazing as such but being competitive and being able to drive it home counts for a lot

mostly stock light mods like intake etc. until the warrenty is up then strip her bare, roll cage, 6pt harness, race seats, sheet metal panels inside, Dokata digital guages, coils, and others i cant think of right now.

As soon as i get it this is what will be done:

1-Gutted interior
2-Lightweight battery
3-Custom Cage
4-Racing Seats
5- light weight Rotors & pads + ss lines when available
6-2 sets of RPF1'S with federal racing tires or nt01's
7-Intake
8-Catback
9-Debating on suspension i have to drive it first.

Car will be stored at my garage at a local track im not even going to get insurance or plates.

I wonder if my mods will void my warranty since the only performance mods will be a trd intake & exhaust??

I forgot to ad:

-Tow Hooks
-Schroth racing 6 point harness
-Fire suppression system
-Window net
-Arm restraints
-AC Delete

Super curious to know if scion would void my warranty with these mods lol. Showing up with a broken race car on a trailer almost stock engine wise.

I'm looking at renting a garage now to store my WRX and work on both cars. My hope was to find something I could rent or buy that also had a garage but that never materialized so I'm hoping to find a cheap garage rental. Unfortunately there don't seem to be too many options out there at the moment.

Not finding a decent garage/workshop that's not ridiculously expensive to rent has been my life for the past 3 months...

Once you put race tires on it, the suspension will feel very soft for a track/race car. Especially with the stiffened chassis (via cage). You're going to need to up your spring rates, go with adjustable shocks (probably double-adjustable coil-overs) and then the tuning begins. And I don't mean "tuning" as in "adding parts". I mean "tuning" as in adjusting those added parts so that they actually make you go faster.

I definitely recommend upping the ante with the coilovers. The JIC's aren't very good. If you really want to knock it out [wallet too] JRZ or Moton are the uber brands. With any luck Nitron will bring an offering to the FR-S/BRZ, but we'll have to wait and see; they don't rush to market usually. KW will be the quickest to market and they're great for the money.

Just to pile on, JIC is awful.

No one should do business with them, ever, for any reason.

Especially when there are much closer and much better options. I'm on Motons at the moment but if I could do it again I'd get JRZs so that I could get local rebuilds...

YMMV :)

BD,

Are you getting a BRZ or FRS?

I had custom JIC's (made for my car) and they were pretty great in terms of ride and track use.

Bit expensive though and yes customer service is meh.
