NoDrone from Synapse Engineering

Has anyone purchased/used one of these before? It looks like they are fairly new but I thought I would ask anyway. I am considering purchasing an Invidia N1 exhaust but the comments about the droning around 3K has me a little worried.

I'm actually gonna try the ARK front pipe with helmholtz chamber with my Invidia N1. I've had the N1 for awhile and just learned to shift out of the drone range, but you cannot avoid it once going over 65mph. I'll post up more by this weekend to let you know my results.

Awesome! I would really appreciate the feedback, I'm itching to pull the trigger on this exhaust and this is my only obstacle.

If anything else, I'll just have a local shop weld a highflow cat onto the ARK unit. But we'll see. I'm hoping to get it done after work sometime at night. Then I can see how it acts on my drive to work Friday morning.

Are you guys getting drone with or with out the silencers in with the N1?? I'm still yet to decide whether im gonna use the silencers as I havnt out the exhaust on yet, but i did paint the silencers satin black just incase i need to use them :)

Nameless Performance uses the same kind of Helmholtz resonators on their overpipe/downpipe combos.

My silencers don't fit. You have to hammer them in place. Plus they look dumb because they are not recessed in, they stick out. They worked great my other car with the GReddy TiC exhaust.

I called Synapse Engineering today to see how much the NoDrone resonators cost because they didn't have them listed on their site. They said that they are still working on the pricing but should be up on their site by the end of next week. I was looking at that ARK test pipe with the built on Helmholtz resonator but I'm afraid it's going to make the exhaust too loud. Plus it's another $400-500. I'm assuming these NoDrone resonators will be much cheaper. Just need to find someone to weld it on.

As weird as they may seem Helmholtz resonators do work, I had a 3" straight pipe on my STI with this style resonator and it was comfortable cruising on the highway, still loud but no headaches later.

Only issue sometimes is making the longer ones fit. These are what I think of as a true Helmholtz resonator, uses just its length and volume to function. The examples from Nameless, ARK, and a few others use I believe a perforated tube with a sound absorbant material. Pretty much a muffler with a dead end, this approach can make packaging easier, but the concept is still that same.

I don't think that's the case with Nameless. @Jason@Nameless can you confirm?

I'll have my ARK on tonight, so I'll post results up Friday night after a day of driving around.

Awesome! Let me know how it goes. My only worry about the ARK is that it will make the exhaust too loud.

Correct. Nameless's is a true helmholtz.

The synapse resonators are also called 1/4 wave resonators or side branch resonators. Length is key on those guys.

I think Nameless's style works mainly on volume but I could be wrong.

Who wants to do math for me. I'm reading this, but am so far removed from my calc classes it's burning my brain. Trying to determine the proper size for my Helmholtz to clear up my exhaust in the 4000 rpm range.
