Waiting time for orders in April-May 2013?
I ordered my BRZ limited on 4/1/13 and was told about 4-8 weeks waiting period (there are many BRZ’s around, but not my configuration). The dealer now tells me that my car is not in the allocation for the end of May. It seems that they just wait for a monthly allocation, but cannot tell ahead when my car will arrive. Why wouldn’t they know? Somebody at Subaru should know how much behind they are and when a specific car can be produced. I called today a general Subaru Customer Service number, and they promised to let me know something by the end of the week.
I’m wondering what the waiting time is for those who have recently received or are receiving a BRZ in May. Please post how long you waited. It looks like in my case it is going to be at least 3 months. |
That is typical. I heard from my Subaru dealership that waiting could take anywhere from 3 months to an entire year. Which is a huge downside in my opinion.

From my experience, I had ordered mine on the 29th of March and (I just checked) an arrival date for the last week of May but wont reach Alaska till' around the first week of June.
So my wait is roughly around 2 months and week? The waiting time for the BRZ varies (long time lurker of the forum) |
At least you guys have enough time to save up for down payment, not counting deposit, or for mods...

I placed an order in late March and was given an ETA of late June. Currently there is no VIN yet.

What you can also do is while on the waiting list, keep checking to see if one shows up on another nearby dealer.
Last fall, I had been waiting for mine about 6 weeks with no definite ETA yet, and I kept checking cars.com or autotrader.com everyday and saw a local dealer got one in with the config I wanted and I called them and asked if it was available they said yes and although it sounded too good to be true I ended up buying it the next day and then getting my deposit back on my original order. The original dealer understood how it goes and had no problems and I still go there for service now. |

For others interested in this: cars.com works way better for me, because on autorader.com I could not specify the color and Limited. |
Apparently it depends on the dealership and how many STIs they sell, that is how Subaru allocates the BRZ number on each dealership. I had to wait 2 months and 1 week to get my BRZ

For what it's worth, when I ordered mine in mid-April the paperwork had an ETA of August. Last time I talked to my dealer, he was estimating early July based on when my order dropped into the queue. The other dealers I've talked to have said wait times are 8-12 weeks right now :iono:

Hang in there. It is worth the wait :)

I walked into into a dealer on April 26th and was told 8-12 weeks for orders. They did some digging and found a WR Blue Limited en route to another dealer and arranged a swap, so I'll hopefully get it around May 23rd instead.

Kludger is right. Place your order, but then put out calls to all the dealers within the driving (or flying) range you are willing to travel.
I placed an order in early Oct 12 with a local dealer, but got on the phone and made calls to every dealer within 300 miles telling them what configuration I wanted and that I was ready to buy (but not a penny over MSRP). Some were quick, with unsatisfactory results, but I made a few connections with certain dealer reps, and it paid off. By the first week of November I got a call about a car that was the exact car I had ordered. Bought the car the next day and had it almost five months earlier than I would have otherwise. (my delivery date when I ordered in Oct 2012 was March 2013...........) The wait time is shorter now but the sooner you can get into this car, the happier you will be.... |
