Black Stealth Exhausts

Hi Friends,

I'm aware that Perrin has a black poweder-coated catback exhaust, but is anyone aware if there are any other quality manufacturers out there that also make blacked out exhausts? What are typical costs for powder-coating tips and mufflers of a typical exhaust?

hhhmmm didn't think powder coat would survive the exhaust temps...

I used BBQ paint on an exhaust once, worked like a charm.

what you are talking is most likely a ceramic coating...i don't believe any companies are offering one coated from step one. the process isn't very difficult and there are many places to get coating done.

With the Perrin it's just the muffler and tips which are powder coated. You can get powder coating which works to higher temperatures, but by that point in the exhaust it's not really high anyways. Most powderrcoating is probably good to 400F.

As for the original post I've seen a few which offered black tips such as Nameless but not the entire muffler/tips like the Perrin.

doesn't ceramic coating change color after a period of time ?

i've seen some coated exhausts on some of my s2000 friend's (gray, black and white) the only that i've seen change is the white, which was his header-back system and only the header changed due to the extreme heat.

Most auto parts stores have engine and exhaust paint. Just do a good prep with a scuff pad and acetone, follow the directions, and any exhaust becomes a black exhaust.
