Bespoke A/V Hidden Option

4 Attachment(s)
This method will enable the A/V feature on your BeSpoke system .It replaces the "AUX" input from the sources screen to "A/V".
Useful for a DVD player, media player or whatever you want; I am doing this to add my MK812 android mini-pc to my stock car stereo. I will do a separate DIY for that to keep this simple.
If you already installed a reverse/backup camera, then this should be real easy to do.

REQUIRED:
1 - Female RCA connector
1 - SPST (ON/OFF) Switch for the Vehicle Speed Sensing (VSS)
Some spare wiring

*Optional: If you don't want to insert the wires in the 16pin and 28pin socket, you can use the connectors from an old CD player or floppy drive power supply connector. Better yet, but a Toyota 28 pin harness from Wal-Mart/BestBuy/car stereo place and cannibalize from there.

Below is a simple diagram outlining what you need to follow.

1) Cut the ADPG wire in slot 25 (This detects input from the AUX) from the 28-pin harness and connect it to the ground.
2) Insert a wire/connector in the 6th slot (Parking brake bypass) of the 16-pin harness then tap that to the wire from slot 25 in the 28-pin harness.
3) Cut the pink/green wire in slot 17 (VSS) and install a switch in between. This will allow you to continue watching the video while moving. Optional and I am not responsible if you get in an accident.
4) Insert the positive/red wire from the female RCA connector into slot 13 of the 28-pin harness.
5) Insert the negative/black wire from the female RCA connector into slot 14 or connect it to the ground tap in slot 25 in the 28-pin harness.

You can stop at this point if all you need is a video input since you can still connect to the AUX port in the by the USB slot.

Optional -
(6) Tap the slot 28 (Left+), 27 (GND) and 26 (Right+) and connect it to a pair of female audio connectors
(7) Use a relay to separate/switch if you want to retain the function of the front AUX connector.

When selecting sources, the “AUX” will now show as “A/V”.

Reinstall your head unit and enjoy!

This. I have no idea whats going on and what's the benefit of it. Backup cam?

lbroskee 05-07-2013 05:39 PM

Cant wait for more details. Looks lik 1st step into it being useful

UbSaMrC 05-07-2013 05:41 PM

Sorry if the pic is misleading, I replaced it with a gif file.

Image you see is from a camcorder/rca out I used to test the connection. This is separate from my backup camera.

The input can be used for dvd player etc...

This method replaces the aux source to a/v and enables the features in the pixs.

So it stops u from seein the reg features and just works as a tv screen basically?

UbSaMrC 05-07-2013 05:59 PM

It still works the same except instead of "AUX" you will see "A/V". This adds another video input besides the backup camera.

Notice the screen doesn't have the "check your surrounding" warning.

Wow, that's very useful. Cant wait for a guide

Lanbaldo3 05-07-2013 06:18 PM

How'd you access that?

AUX? I don't have AUX. On the second Source screen, it looks like you have AUX and SAT; mine shows CD and BT. Are there different Bespoke firmwares/operating systems?

btw if you have pics of your wiring, please post them! I'm somewhat of a visual learner.

I'm sorry, I don't understand what you're trying to say.

The OP says "AUX" becomes "A/V". Well, I don't have "AUX" in the first place...nor do I have "USB" either. My second page is CD and BT, and my first page is this:

http://www.labadieauto.com/blog/wp-c...tc-bespoke.jpg

Another thing is that I remember reading in the Bespoke manual that if you have Bespoke, the 3.5mm headphone jack cannot be used on its own...only with an iPod connected with a USB + analog cable.

lbroskee 05-08-2013 04:57 PM

Im not sure y his is 2nd page but aux,USB,iPod is all the same thing. Unless this thing is wired weird so cd is aux and this disables CD player

the_colombian 05-08-2013 07:41 PM

Let us know how it works with the mini PC. I might be interested in doing this as well.

Lanbaldo3 05-09-2013 03:17 AM

is hawaii's frs different then ours (mainland) firmware wise???

cruzinbill 05-09-2013 05:06 AM

he has a different HU, notice it doesnt say powered by Zephyr on the bottom right.

His is the same that is avail for the Scion IQ, from what I remember it doesn't have all the features of the FR-S one. No ipod control as well as other things, cant remember for sure tho.

I'm going to give this a shot this weekend with the US spec bespoke.

Yeah I'll take some pictures, I'm going to see if I can find some other wiring diagrams too.

Rayme 05-09-2013 07:00 PM

I'll have to try that. We don't have the bespoke here, but just the pioneer..which is basicly the same shit without the bespoke app thingy...It should work I hope.

UbSaMrC 05-10-2013 04:46 PM

I twerked my phone kernel and couldn't get my tapatalk working.

I forgot to mention my HU was pulled from a 2012 Scion XB when it was totaled. I assumed most settings were the same since the connectors are the exact same. I matched our 28pinout to a standard toyota pinout and found the similarities; mic, vss, steering, audio in and to my surprise video on slot 13.

The standard connectors worked from the frs to the premium audio (not bespoke) so I assumed it should work. Seeing that the screens are different, I am not sure where the video feed will trigger in the HU.

The process is simple that anyone with bespoke can try and undo as long as you don't splice the vss and slot 25, instead remove the pin using a needle and insert a loose wire then ground that.

Parking brake bypass is should be grounded during the reverse cam install.

Disclaimer: This is solely based on my digging around the net and what I did, try it if it works then you just found a reason to enable inputs available in a cheaper deck.

Final testing done. Front usb and audio still works independently as long as back audio rca is not used.

Anyone know if the front USB still works with step 6 done? Not the aux port under the usb, but will the head unit still read from the a usb drive if 6 is done?

That is interesting. You're running an android OS and seems to be Wi-Fi as well. Do you have to use a mouse or can you "touch?"

DarrenDriven 06-21-2013 12:52 AM

I'm super fed up with my BeSpoke, but if I could get A/V into it then I might like it again. I have a small media player (IOGEAR) that outputs to regular RCA cables (white, red yellow). Could I stash this in the glovebox and then actually use it to watch and hear the video?

seems like it. just get power from ur glovebox outlet and ur good to go. i kinda wanna hook up a video game to this lol

l0aded 07-16-2013 08:03 PM

For this step:
3) Cut the pink/green wire in slot 17 (VSS) and install a switch in between. This will allow you to continue watching the video while moving. Optional and I am not responsible if you get in an accident.

Can you just ground the wire instead?

How are you connecting the MK812 since it takes mini-HDMI? Are you using a HDMI -> RCA convertor box or is there a non active way of doing it?

Lanbaldo3 07-16-2013 10:13 PM

just letting the other people know, for us zephyr bespoke it doesnt work. i tried it.... didnt work. unless i did it wrong. if so correct me if im wrong to whomever tried it too.

I'm going to give it a shot this weekend. Fingers crossed.
What happened when you tried it? Did anything change at all?

Lanbaldo3 07-17-2013 02:36 AM

@l0aded nothing, i dont have to come to a complete stop anymore to be able to scroll down anywhere in my song list, due to the vss was cut off. I was gonna do that anyways, thats why i gave it a shot. I also hoped bespoke icon would change or at least use the screen for it but nothing happened. So I am guessing someone has to come up a way to access the video monitor for bespoke, in order to use that screen.
