Already damaged paint...
Well I knew it'd happen eventually, but I didn't think it would be during the first week I owned the freakin' car... I had to run an errand for my wife while she was stuck at work, and I juuuuust barely ran over a damn curb with my front fender... Scraped the damn paint off very easily... The curb was made of that concrete that is full of larger gravel, so it wreaked havoc on the bottom of my front fender. That paint protective film be damned, of course, heh.
:sigh: |

Can't see it while you're looking at it, but just knowing it's there bothers me. |
Did the same thing pulling into a parking space. Not used to really not being able to see the nose of my car at all. Did some scraping all the way underneath. Sucks, but i touched it up with a paint pen and some clearcoat and it came out alright. I learned to get better at judging my car spacially, and i started backing up into all my spaces! Day by day, im getting less noob.

I just stay ridiculously far back in the parking space. Our cars are so short that it usually doesn't hang out anyway.

I'm used to parking way back too, but I was in a hurry, and just fudged up. It's been a long time since I've done that to a car, but ohhhhh well...

Every car I have ever owned has had a low nose. Even when I drive my wife's tC I still park far away from sidewalks, curb-stops, ect. just out of habit. Scott |

It has been an adjustment. previously I didn't bother to parallel park, just hop up on the curb and drop down where i needed to be! It made things easy. I find the 86 almost impossible to parallel park :( I suck |
2 days in I gave up on keeping the front lip pristine, you can't see it unless you get down low or under it sooo :iono:
|
I've scraped the front over 5 times already. I'm always extra careful going over the driveways, but I scrape no matter how careful I am. One time, it started to scrape even before I got to the deepest point, so I had to reverse out and forget entering there. Driveways here sucks. I don't understand why they need to be so deep. And my car isn't even dropped.
|
Had a rock chip on top of the driver side fender that I attempted to fill and sand down..... with disastrous results. Poor girl is going in tomorrow to get the fender resprayed and my wallet isn't happy about it. That's what I get for being a little OCD .... <rotfl>

I've learned from the first time this happened to me in the FR-S. Park far away from curb :|
|
I've scraped mine multiple times. I still try to avoid it, but I've decided not to worry too much when I do it. I can get it repainted before selling or just disclose to a potential buyer (since I have a feeling finding one with pristine paint under the bumper will be difficult short of buying new).
|
I scraped my lower front bumper once over those stop concrete. I felt sad, but oh well..
P.S. Check out my parking skill hahaha so damn close! http://i903.photobucket.com/albums/a...psdc95a28b.jpg |

All kidding aside, it happens. My tC had so many scrapes on the bottom from being lowered. I learned real quick, if you're gonna have a lower car you have got to be careful, and think more often of where you're headed. |
gave up keeping paint pristine as soon as I drove off the lot.

Mines been banged up and torn open (fucking father parking into exposed rebar). Gave up a long time ago. Just try to avoid it and be more conscience of it. |
I took a steep speed bump at an angle at 5 mph and scraped a bit under the front of the bumper. Shit is inevitable. I want to lower my baby but I can't imagine how often I'd scrape. Too many shitty roads in socal.

Local mechanic mentioned that instead of installing a backup camera, that you could put the same small thing on the front of the car and help avoid scraping. Haven't done it yet, but if I lower, I'll definitely be thinking about it. :)

Mine was scraped (very lightly) when I bought it. Pointed it out to my dealer and they offered to repaint it. I declined and took some other incentives (trunk mat, hat, extra oil changes, etc.) instead. Figure I'll do it myself someday and I'll save a lot of energy not kicking my own butt!

I had a stone hit my bonnet and dint it and the windscreen is chipped all from one stone... And my car was only four days old :(
