"Buzzing" From behind the steering wheel under hard acceleration

So when I'm rolling through the gears, at about 65mph under hard acceleration, there is a "buzzing" sound from behind the steering wheel and near he gauges. I have no clue what it is. Anyone else experiencing this?

It's the engine!

Yeah, I just noticed this too. I think it's normal for this car. If you hear it all the time then there's a problem.

Bump. Did it again last night when I was raping my Primacys.

Ok somehow I searched the threads before I posted but did not see this. I just posted a thread on this.

I too am getting this "buzzing" vibration and sound in the steering column or the steering wheel. It is an odd sound and odd sensation. It only happens for me occasionally, and I've noticed it kind of depends on the road texture and the speed I'm travelling at.

The sound is somewhat electrical right? Not quite a beeping or buzzing but like a weird electrical noise that goes away while still accelerating? I've had it pretty frequently too, mainly with highway driving.

I think I may be experiencing the same thing, although it sounds more like a ticking sound like someone tapping a coin against a piece of metal. I started a thread regarding this too, I'm thinking maybe some dynamat on the metal parts of the steering column might eliminate it...

Could be coming slightly to the right. Try pushing in the plastic panel between the middle AC vents and the headunit (the thin part). There is no clip there so it could be vibrating.

I believe I'm having the same issue, it only happens at certain speeds and road texture, seems like something resonates and it starts buzzing. Sounds like it's coming from somewhere in the front left of the car.

Same buzzing noise here, but not all the time.

I tried to complain about this when I went in for 15k service, and they blamed my after market intake. Which is a completely different sound...not sure what the techs do, but it isn't fix my car. =)

yea mine does this as well. Sounds like a fly buzzing around in the HVAC. Coming from front left as well. Its driving me insane, hope we can find a fix.

Well, I'm glad I found this thread. I have the same issue, and I just got my BRZ! I was so confused, and came up with so many possible scenarios, but my buzzing sound like a small metal ball bearing tapping around an enclosed plastic space. It only does it at about 5000-6500 rpm in 4th or 5th gear, and it's not consistent. Sometimes it'll continue making the noise on decel too. It sounds like some sort of weird resonance, and I thought it may be something in the intake tube.

I'm pretty sure the buzzing from the steering wheel/gauge area has been well covered. It's normal for this car, and a lot of people found it was coming from the speaker cover beside the driver A pillar. Try popping it off and securing it better with 3M tape, or dynamat around the edges where it fits into the dash.
