Best FI setup for my needs?

  • Want to match the S2000's power (240WHP)
  • Within budget (around $4000), but if quality is on the line, I'd pay more
  • 91 gas only (SoCal)
  • Does not need so much maintenance (unless it's as simple as oiling the turbo or something)
  • Easy to install (planning to install on my own to save on $$$)
  • Gonna be used as a daily driver, so good MPG
  • Gonna track once, twice a month
  • Preferably a turbo (for the BOV sound), but a supercharger is OK if it matches the requirements above

:thanks:

Go with AVO or FA20 Club Turbo kit

For someone in CA I think the Vortech would be a no brainer because of pending CARB approval.

I second this. I am not a fan of SC on this car but for the average joe who wants a bit of power it seems like the no brainer choice. Turbo just doesnt gel with ease of ownership.

If you want it to feel like an S2000 then I would go with a centrifugal supercharger option (Vortech, HKS, Rotrex etc).

Although some of the turbo conversions have weird rising-rate torque curves which aren't too dissimilar.

I would anticipate that Vortech have the most sales under their belt, and probably the most experience on this type of application, even though they're not very approachable with suggestions for improvements.

AVO kit with a relatively stock looking engine compartment should fit the bill. I am not sure I am confident in your ability to install the kit though if you are asking this question and you want a turbo kit for the BOV sound though.

Well, I am pretty handy with car stuff. I actually do headlight retrofits, and also most of the maintenance my own. Just wondering how hard the install for the TC/SC is, but it seems it's just been answered in another thread. :)

I like this mod to look as stock as possible, hoping cops won't notice if/when I get pulled over.

I like the BOV sound because my brother's STi sounds awesome, lol.

I've read that Vortech kits will only be CARB approved (in the future) if you buy the Complete kit from them, is that true?

Yes.

Vortech would work especially if your in cali. Stock kit is advertised at 300bhp (or ~240whp), which would be much faster than a stock s2000, and be carb legal.
