Can someone explain how the Galibier's Headlights work

I was looking at the Bugatti Galibier's awesome headlights and wondered what type of headlights they were. anyone know? i assume LED but how are they positioned? is there a central light being reflected throughout the whole assembly or are there multiple lights? how is light being distributed through those four surrounding glass plates with the digital print?

It's almost certainly fiber optics with a single light source, possibly an LED.

Simple... They work through a steady flow of cash that via pure fucking magic emits illumined $100 bills to light it's way.

If you light the bottom edge of a piece of glass or plastic anything etched in it will light up like that.

100 years from now this will be the car people see at Barrett Jackson auctions and think, it must've been awesome to be alive when those were new.

glorydays 02-04-2012 04:38 AM

so those headlights are full glass or does plastic do the same thing?

Those lights...are completely bonkers. (as Clarkson would say)

No, he'd say "They're the most expensive headlights... in the world".

There could very well be more than one light source. But that's a very well shaped piece of Perspex (or glass) that has sanded(brushed) edges where you want the light to shine.
Wha your are seeing is internal reflection of light (of the polished surfaces) and diffraction of light where the surface is rough (etched and brushed) :)
