TRD Steering Wheel

Was browsing japanparts and found this little gem. Didn't know it was being released: http://www.japanparts.com/db/parts_d...=&SEARCH_page=

The airbag isn't included, so it seems like we'll still have a Scion or Subaru badge instead of the 86 logo. Considering even then it's still well above $400, it's not worth it.

Looks exactly the same, I would love a thicker flat bottom steering wheel.

Is it flat bottom?

Doesnt look like it.

It's not flat bottomed. It's just a lot thicker. Looks like a different leather material too

asia_minor 05-06-2013 12:26 AM

ummm... meaty.

dem00n 05-06-2013 12:33 AM

I like the meatyness of it.

I had JP add it to their catalog for me when it came out. Then I dismissed the idea because I was too chicken to tamper with the safety/cruise control/VSC/recalibration stuff or to trust a technician to install it factory dead center. But now you got me reassessing. :mad0259:

Exactly why I want it. Same circumference as stock but uniform girth for a sportier grip all around. Not the prettiest steering wheel but I'm all about how it'll enhance one of the strong points of this car: steering feel.

It's real leather made from momo. It's actually been on japanparts for awhile and the price is steadily dropping since the exchange rate is getting better for us.

It's actually 5mm smaller.

I'm actually getting a steering wheel wrapped by JPM with their option to make it thicker, so I'll see how that turns out. Using nappa leather (always like the feeling of the "german" leather) and alcantara. It's pretty much the same price to get it done that way.

switchlanez 05-06-2013 04:28 AM

^Cool, wondering how it turns out.

This all started with me buying that fat TRD shift knob. Now I want everything else to complement it. If I get this wheel, next I'll want the TRD seats to enhance what this car does best: feel from its inputs. Damn it never ends... damn I shouldn't have bought this car! :mad0259:

TRD steering wheel MUST go with TRD seats (both are pictured):

Looks nice but don't know it it supports the cruise control stalk.

Appears to be made by Mono.

@OnkelC and @Calidrifter seem to know about the TRD steering wheel as they have mentioned it on my TRD build thread.

Since I have most of the TRD catalogue it's on my shopping list along with the carbon fiber battery clamp. Like the look of the TRD seats but not the idea of removing some of the air bags from my daily driver.
