So I think with slotted front rotors should be good. Or may be additional air duct cooler for summer.

That would be enough for me not to use those pads at the track anymore.

motul 600 will not cut it. i use torque with SS lines and no brake fades

next track day @ sonoma, my car will be running FI so ill report back how these brake pads hold

Sounds like you're already overusing those brake pads. Brake fade is not going to be remedied with slotted front rotors. Overworking brake pads and using them above their operating temperature can't be solved with brake ducts either. Brake pads have to handle the temperature spike upon brake application. A spongy pedal means your brake fluid boiled. A solid pedal with reduced braking intensity is pad fade.

Thanks Mike! So would you recommend having matching front and rear pads? :happy0180:

Good idea to preserve bias. I usually run more rear bias, but equal pads front and rear should be good too. Running more front pad would be a mistake IMO.

Mike are you on stock calipers and rotors? If so how are they holding up? If not what are you running?

Most definitely!

As much as I love DS2500's, I wouldn't recommend them on this car for anything other than street use. Even light track work causes them to overheat in my experience. They'd most likely be a lot better if the brakes were 20-30mm larger with a thicker disc.

We're on the AP Racing/Essex Sprint BBK, which we're now also dealers for. Originally, we just purchased the kit for our car, but after extensive use, we elected to become dealers because we liked it so much. We now carry a ton of pads for JUST that kit...

A small sample of those pads. Keep in mind that this pad isn't exactly used on a lot of cars and we still keep them in inventory for our track clients. If we don't have it, we can probably get it as well (We only stock 1 street pad option at the moment):

I've been running with DS2500's on stock tires. They've been okay for me for a couple laps at full speed, but by lap 3, they start to fade a bit and I have to back off. At my last event, the Ferodos transfered some deposits onto the front rotors which caused a wobble under braking. It went away after a couple weeks of street driving.

The stock tires have been helping to not overheat the brakes (not a huge amount of braking traction). That said, I'll still go with something more aggressive after I these pads are done. I'm thinking about the Project Mu HC800 or just going up to the full on PMu CR pad. I wanted the HC800's originally, but they weren't available when I was getting the car ready for my first track day in February.

I'd probably put the money i'd waste on more pads towards a BBK.

I was considering the AP Racing Spring Kit, but it's too much money for the random track day. I wanted to see how far the stock calipers will go and rotors will go. Did you ever run XP12 or more aggressive pads on the stock calipers and rotors? Did you see any issues?

We were already getting significant hairline fractures on the stock rotors using XP10. At our pace, I would expect to replace pads at the race of 1 set of front rotors per 1 set of front pads.

This is with 215 street tires. Expect faster wear with wider/stickier tires.

I would recommend you go straight to the Club Racers. The HC+800 isn't a large enough step up.

Are the Club Racers street-able? Or would they be too much?
