Subaru BRZ Front End...is...ugly?

First off, let me say...I love subarus. I don't think you can really understand them until you have driven the lot of them, and I have...from WRXs to STIs from a wide range of years. Theya remarkable cars that have regularly put a smile on my face so many times.

Maybe this thread has been posted or maybe it has not...but what exactly is going on with the BRZ Front-End? It looks like the front bumper is...opened...gaping...or even unfinished. Does no one else see a giant plastic bumper piece that is highly exposed and very ugly on the front of this car?

It reminds me of the ugly, exposed front-end mazda has been doing on their cars as of late:

I am not trying to start a flame war or anything...but does anyone else see this? I am probably going to get the Toyo for this reason alone...even though I :brokenheart: SUBARU?!

Styling is subjective. I personally think it looks fine even though it resembles many Peugeot vehicles. Seems Subaru wanted to incorporate the trapezoid grille on most of their vehicles (i.e. Legacy, Impreza, etc) and this was the best way to do it.

Some Peugeot cars for comparison.

Nope dont see what "plastic piece" you're talking about.

Giraffe bread

You mean the scion.

It's been discussed a lot. It's not that bad in person and I know it'll be impossible for me to see it from the drivers seat so it doesn't bother me.

I meant youll be buying the scion not the Toyota.

Technically you are buying a Subaru regardless.

hmm whatever you do, do not search front gaping hole in google.

Definitely looks better in person. Pictures do not do it justice.

I agree that the front end on the frs is sleeker but both are very good looking cars. I beleive what you are looking at is the crash beam. If you look at the FRS the mesh grill is actually filled in at the top in the same area as the BRZ due to what I believe is that beam. Toyota just did a little better job hiding it. This will however effect the aftermarket options as well.

Its not the crash bean, its plastic, the crash beam is behind it. Anyway, I think the BRZ is more mature looking, and its front end looks miles better than the immature street racer front end of the FR-S. But as many have said, styling is subjective, opinions vary, there is no right or wrong.

And by the way, if you don't like the 6 sided grill it seems that you are in the minority as it has become quite the trend with automakers looking to appeal to those who want a sporty look.

Wait until you see how the headlights buldge out past the bumper on the scion. It's horrible in person because of that IMO. Looks terribly unfinished.

That is what I was saying. The plastic is there to cover the beam. They didn't just randomly put a big piece of plastic on the front of the car. It serves a purpose.
