Livue LB100 stealth mount
Thought I'd share my discreet behind-the-mirror dashcam setup.
It's a Livue LB100 from Korea. It's a small-ish dash cam. The mounting bracket for it mounts on a ball joint and uses permanent adhesive rather than a suction cup (the camera itself still clips in and out). I've got it and my EZ Pass behind the mirror, positioned so that I can't see either from the driver's seat. Cord for the camera goes across the headliner, down the A-pillar, and into the glovebox. No disassembly or anything, just wedged it in the gap. I removed the faceplate of the dash cam. It was originally a gloss black with a silver logo and a silver cylindrical lens housing. I plasti-dipped it black to make it less conspicuous, and did the same with my EZ Pass - removed the sticker, plasti-dipped it, and put the sticker back on. http://i.imgur.com/d3xrp4Q.jpg |
Looks like a nice stealth install.

How is the daytime vs. nightime picture quality?
|
Daytime was decent, it's clear where other vehicles are, but license plates are hard to read unless they're very close. I'm going to try increasing the picture quality in the configuration - I think I'm at "good" or "high", and it goes up to a "very good" or "very high".
I haven't driven at night since the installation. I bought the LB100 per the recommendations of this site http://dashcamtalk.com/dash-cam-comparison/ |
Nice picture, I'm using the same LB100 dashcam and did the plastidip trick too.
Good camera so far, just beware that the bulit-in low batt protection has too low a threshold to save the battery on the twins, as I found out after leaving my car parked for a week and coming back to a dead battery. |
For 100 this looks great. How many hours of video can it record before it starts overwriting? (in high and good quality). Can it take 64gb sd cards?

edit: nm you can set it on timer as well " The low voltage cut-off will turn off the camera You can also set a time for battery discharge prevention from 2 hours to 48 hours or even unlimited or completely disabled" |
Sweet find.. I'm wondering if this or other dash cams allow live wifi "snooping" of the camera if they are on the same wifi signal.. Had a weird incident last week at my friends where a empy tow truck was lurking around in front of the car.. Without my buddies camera setup, I might have never seen a possible attempt to snag the car.
Nice install! |

As far as the problem with parking mode draining the battery because the power saver voltage threshold is too low for the 86, I solved that in a simple way, if I know my car is going to be parked for a week or more (due to work or weather), I just unplug the power chord on the dashcam itself, that way I can plug it back in when I return and start using the car regularly but it prevents the drain from parking mode during weeks when I have to leave it parked for extended periods. Hopefully the voltage sensor threshold will become adjustable in the bios sometime. It doesn't have wifi access like some of the $300 dashcams, but overall great small dashcam for the $100 price IMHO. |
I've got it hooked up to the glovebox outlet, which I thought was switched with the ignition - is that not the case?
