What's everyone doing on stock brakes, for pads?

I don't really need to go with a BBK and was wondering what street/track pads you would suggest?

I am thinking of doing stainless lines in addition, but was wondering what pads you guys recommend

I'm happy with the Project Mu B Force pads. I haven't installed my Spiegler lines yet, but it's forthcoming.

Before my stop techs I had EBC Yellows, loved them. Have them now in the stop techs.

I've been wondering this myself, I keep bouncing between Ferodo 2500, and Porterfield R4-S.

All the reviews say the Ferodo are the best, but the Porterfield aren't far behind and with my intended use of hard street driving should be MORE then enough. I just don't know if the performance difference is worth the price difference.

At $220 shipped for a F&R set of Project Mu HC+800's I must say they are fantastic for a hybrid pad for the money. They take a pounding at the track and I can't fade them with a MOT of 800C, though I'm also running brake cooling ducts in the front. They are also quiet on the street and offer a decent cold bite. I'll be running them year round.

If you're only doing light track duty in novice run groups at tracks that aren't that hard on brakes, you can't go wrong with the StopTech Street Performance. Best value IMO for a street pad that may rarely see the track or autox in a slower run group; just don't expect them to take much abuse in mid summer at a high speed track.

Both pads I mentioned are relatively nice to OEM rotors unlike other more aggressive full race pads like Carbotechs. I've done a few track days on my OEM rotors and can't catch a fingernail on anything. Wear seems pretty even.

TRD Pads and SS Brakelines for me.

Good thread. I was looking for some better pad for the upcoming track days.

Stock brake pads work fine but they sometimes lack stopping power on sudden braking.
It would be great to find a better pad that's not too hard on stock rotors.

Eagerly awaiting my hc+800. Stock pads suck.

Who makes the TRD pads? Also upgrading the pads. Would it make it cause squeak?

Ferodo DS1.11 on our red car while on OEM calipers. Great for extended lapping at the track so far. No fade during 30-40 minute sessions, while providing consistent feel lap after lap.

Good initial bite when cold and are less noisy and dusty compared to the HP+ that were on before. Much higher bite than the HP+, as well. Couldn't engage ABS with the 255 RS3 and HP+, not a problem anymore!

I was running Carbotech XP10s, I'd probably go XP12 front and rear if I still used OEM front clappers.

Running Projectµ NS400s, pretty good upgrade over the stock pad for mostly street use, but still hold their own on the track. They'll start to fade at the end of a longer session, but it takes a good bit to get them there.

I'll be honestly, I'm not pay that much for pads for my use. For the kind of lapping you're describing, sure. But come on man, 240 at set plus shipping.

Thanks for the replies guys... But (I know, I hate hearing that word when someone has asked for my opinion)... How are those pads on the street? My car will very rarely see track use so street use (NVH, dust, rotor wear) are more of a concern. I'm mainly looking for something with better bite, and slightly higher temperature range then stock. Honestly I didn't even know all of these pad existed. :bonk:
