J2 Engineering front pipe

Well i was bored this week with some free time on my hand, and felt like i wanted to install something new. My car is hopefully going FI soon so i didn't want to invest in something too expensive or permeant, and to my luck i noticed that the J2 front pipe was sold by a ware house that was only 30 minutes away so it was the easiest thing to try out; in addition i wanted to see how loud can my Buddy Club Spec II get :bonk:

i tend to bash and hate eBay parts but thought i could give it a try considering it won't last that long on my car before i take it off.

Drove up to DNA motorsports and picked it up, asked them if i could inspect the piece before leaving and they were happy to let me do it.

at the first glance you are going to fall in love with this piece thinking you bought the best looking front pipe for a 100$~, but as you inspect it you tend to notice the lack of quality.

Install was ok, did run into a few minor issues like not being able to reuse the stock bolts which i hated because the bolts provided were BAD. Also the grade of steel used on the flange was different from the pipe it self which was very very thin. Im no metal expert but i doubt its even proper stainless steel or even steel :iono:

Impression

:confused0068: its LOUD now, too loud

i though it would be ok but after driving the car for 3 hours straight yesterday i had a really bad headache from the drone, i can live with it but my passenger was really pissed & annoyed and i don't blame him.

Also on my cold start today i heard a weird rattle that lasted 3 seconds or so anybody has similar issues with after market front pipes? i might lift the car again tomorrow and re check the bolts.

Conclusion
i bet if somebody is on budget or wants this as a track piece and so on it would be a great investment with a well resonated catback, but if not you could pay an extra 150$~ and be better off with a proper company with proper build quality. regardless of the pipe my car rumbles now even more ... and sets off most car alarms :slap:. I guess I'm going to keep it for a week or two and let it go for super cheap or give it away to somebody who wants to enjoy it.

Regardless of how loud it is, do think it sounds good and should i keep it on ?

Is it loud through the back only or does it also emanate noise directly?

Hmm a bit of both, with a proper street friendly catback I'm sure it would sound good:)

I love mine... don't know how long it'll actually last, but it is like 1/2-1/3 the cost of all the other frontpipes on the market. It mates really well to the Greddy Evo3 catback since it's 2.75" piping.

Honestly... it's friggin piping.. it works just fine and it probably outperforms the 2.5" Motiv frontpipe w/ HFC I was running before it. I bought it because it was 2.75" piping and catless (and dirt cheap).

I coated it with exhaust paint to make it hopefully last a bit longer.

I used the J2 frontpipe and the Greddy Evo3 for my 460whp e85 setup.
