You have the choice with the greddy or the Afe Takeda intake kit to use the sound tube or not when you install. If you use it, you will need to drill a small hole where marked in the instructions.

I suggest you the use it and when you want less noice into the cabin you just need to put a plastic cap into the passenger foot hole to block the sound. If you want the noice back just remove the plastic cap again. On and Off at will...

I would save the money from an intake and buy a drop-in filter. You're going to want to have your car tuned to utilize the intake. A tune will give you better performance results with or without an intake.

I have been using the GReddy intake for over two months now. I like it. Went ahead and removed the sound tube completely and capped the hole in the cabin. I agree with getting better performance with a tune but I'm not looking to go that route just yet. Install was really simple.

I already have a KN panel, I'm researching going Intake/Header/Tune. I have blocked off the factory sound tube and never looked back.

I have the afe takeda intake, which is exactly the same as the greddy. I left the sound tube hole capped, and removed all of the tubing. I bought a pvc plug from Lowe's and plugged the hole in the firewall.

I hated the sound that the tube made, and my intake is plenty loud as is. Plus, you can always drill out the hole in the intake if you want to later, but once you drill it, theres no easy clean way to go back.

I had a mechanic tell me to use the tube since that part of what I "paid for" and I see sense in that but it really serves no purpose other than adding more noise to the natural sounds of the car and mods. Just cap it and move on is what I say.
