Perrin or Kartboy pulley?

Is there any reason to go with one or the other on this? or should I just go with the best deal?

Perrin = 1.2 LBS
Kartboy = 1 LBS

Thanks for any thoughts on this.

Until enough long term results of aftermarket pulley's can prove they are safe.

Long term testing has already been done, tried and proven. I also had big fears regarding LW pulleys because my past was with inline 4's.

In terms of weight balance, boxer engines are a whole different animal than any other type of engine.

Long story short, the "boxer" movement of the pistons makes the boxer engine ridiculously balanced when compared to V or inline motors.

Because of this, adding a LW pulley does not throw the engine balance off in a detrimental way. Fear not. The difference by itself is very true its minimal, but still felt and coupled with other weight reducing mods (LW flywheel), its a great combo.

KartBoy b/c sleeper status....deff can feel a difference....cheap easy way to get racecar feel...lol.

Sportsguy83 is right. People have been running LW pulleys on Subaru's for years without a single issue ever showing up related to the pulley. I have had mine on for 10k miles now without any issues. Maybe a little early to tell, but my friend has had one on her 04 STI since new and it now has 127k miles on it. 100k of those miles have been over 300whp and 390wtq.

Yup. Different animal with a boxer motor. They are internally balanced so its a non issue.
We decided to make a no bullshit stealth pulley much like our great selling EJ pulley. (our old FXT had well over 100K on our pulley with ZERO problems) As far as i know its still rocking.
Granted its not going to be a OMG i added a supercharger to my car, but every little bit helps. Easy install, great price.

besides. if you're going to do a lightweight pulley anyway then do kartboy. it's lighter and cheaper than the perrin one. it's what i'm gonna do... :P

I'm mostly interested in smoothing out my daily driving experience for my weekly commute from one red light to the next. I want to be able to accel out of 2nd gear without the car feeling like its struggling. Will the pulley help with that?

Muller Performance 05-02-2013 12:53 PM

It may help a little bit. Tom at Kartboy is correct in terms of the boxer motor. If you want more response from acceleration, you need to look into a carbon driveshaft, lightweight flywheel, and knock some lbs off the corners of the car....with the lightweight pulley.

For sure.... it deff helps in traffic and everyday driving....But will also wake the car up a bit when in the high RPMs.

I would have gotten the Kartboy if I it was available when I purchased it.
