Cusco Oil Catch Can Install Help (horizontal type)
So being the instructions being very vague :sigh:, i understand how to install it the Vent to atmosphere type. but not the one with the PCV
the right inlet/outlet port on the cusco can is connected to the blow by hose which was originally connected to the intake/air box. (as cusco instructed) i have disconnected where the old pcv hose located under the "intake valve cover" (toyota/subaru on the left side) which used to be connected to the pcv valve. It is now rerouted to the left side of the inlet/outlet port of the cusco can. my question is what do i connect the pcv valve to , i get a loud whistling noise coming from the engine bay so i'm quite confused. any help would be appreciated. :happy0180: pictures to follow :coolpics: picture of blow by to intake hose being blocked off http://i1339.photobucket.com/albums/...ps165c0b43.jpg picture of intake hose now connected to catch can on right inlet port as per cusco instructions http://i1339.photobucket.com/albums/...ps7b9792e2.jpg this is a picture of the hose going under the "intake cover" if you're standing infront of the vehicle it would be hooked up to the left hose inlet. http://i1339.photobucket.com/albums/...psc195d5bd.jpg heres a picture of the pcv valve with nothing connected to it. http://i1339.photobucket.com/albums/...ps0fbbad49.jpg |
Yeah you can't leave the PCV valve open...
The original way Cusco wants you to connect it is the breather under the AC compressor is connected to one fitting and the hose from the other fitting goes to the intake tube. So you are putting the can in the middle of the existing hose which goes from that breather to the intake tube. That's not where you want to hook it up since it sees almost no blowby. What you want to do is hook it up between the PCV valve and the PCV outlet on the intake manifold. So you have half of it hooked up correctly, but move the other hose so it is connected to the PCV valve and reconnect the other hose back to stock. There is way more blowby coming out of the PCV than the other breather. If you are FI then it makes sense to put a catch can on both of them. |
