FR-S aces "Moderate Overlap" crash test.
We already know that the FR-Z aced with "Good" scores on rear, side and roof protection tests administered by the IIHS. However, now it has passed the "Moderate Overlap Front Test" collision as well. This test simulates a crash where the other vehicle hits around 40% of the test vehicle's front end. IIHS still hasn't performed the "Small Overlap" test that simulates a collision involving just a front corner, or less than 25%, of the test vehicle's front end.

This is the moderate overlap test which most cars do OK in, the new one that is trashing cars is the small overlap test.

This is a great question. Can you contact IIHS/HLDI's public information department and get an answer, and let us know? |
Show us a prius hitting the wall at 60 mph.
