Obviously I don't want to be a 2000rpm at 80mph in 6th with the amount of torque this car makes. An American engine is a different story...pushes you into the seats at any RPM :)

At 80 you'd need about 30 horsepower, this car could do 80 at 2000rpm and it would do it at maximum efficiency. It's just that if a headwind blows strong, or if you have to climb a steep grade, you need to floor it, or shift.

If a G35 did 3200rpm at 80, that's way too many rpms. A Honda 3.5L with 5 speed auto on the Pilot or Accord does 2600-2700 at 80.

This car is going to do about 3100 at 80 with the 3.727 f/d.

then it would take quite an effort from an idiot to get it into gear...

My truck doesn't have a lock out but the spring on the gate to get to reverse or low is VERY heavy. So much so I usually just slap it over.

my car has it in the same place, so no problems for me.

Lol reminds me of a time my friend (who owns a 350z) drove his brothers old '04 mustang GT. On the free way, after 5th, just shoved it into reverse LOLz. Poor tranny

Trunk space shouldn't be a problem for you! I mean, if you can fold down the back seats and fit a full set of tires, toolbox, jack, and a helmet in the back... that's got some decent space. :D Right?

Trunks space alone is said to be round 7 cubic feet (its not particularly spacious). So take that as what you will.

I think most modern compact cars carry around 13 cubic feet.

My mum's mazda 6 has the reverse gear next to first but you push the gearstick down to get into reverse. doesnt take much to get used to.

Fortunately google is very helpful with the conversions. OK, 198 litres is on the small side but manageable if you carry at most one passenger.

Someone intelligent but inattentive would stop after the first crunch; but still - I don't think it's good for the gearbox ;)
Fortunately, one can't make such mistakes when driving the 86. I'd have to remember I don't have 6 gears when going back to the Auris, though :burnrubber:
