Can't do it... Scion or Subaru, I just can't.
No matter how much I try to like this car and accept that it's a Scion I can't do it. Every time I see that Scion logo on the steering wheel, replacing the 86 logo, I see it as Scion giving every Toyota fan the finger while they drive and stomping on Toyota's legacy.
The car was made to represent Toyota's motorsport history/legacy and making it a Scion is another kick in the teeth to Toyota fans who've been waiting for a Toyota performance car. Yeah, yeah, "But Scion is Toyota" no, no they are not. That's like saying my sister is me. Aside from the obvious, she's female and I'm male, I'm a computer networking technician and my sister is a musician. We are from the same parents, the same family, but completely different people. Same thing goes for Toyota/Scion. "Quit whining and get the Subaru then" No. I'm a Toyota fan. I have a thing called loyalty, that Toyota/Scion seem to have forgotten. "Built by passion, not committee." Bullshit. If that were true it'd be a Toyota as Akio Toyoda-san intended. A Toyota sports/performance car that harkens back to Toyota's motorsport history. Not a Scion, built to save a dying offshoot company, according to the committee running the place. I've even had a response from Scion's "contact us" people saying that Scion is supposed to point people towards Toyota. I laughed and responded by saying and what sport/performance car does Scion point to in Toyota? Scion has the tC for their sports car, it should point to the Toyota GT 86. Not the tC pointing to the FR-S which points to the Toyota Nothing. Toyota has lacked a sports car in North America since 2005 when the Celica and MR-2(S) were canceled. I love this car, I really do, but I can't stand for Toyota bashing it's fans anymore and kicking us to the curb with this kind of thing. I even asked the local Toyota/Lexus/Scion dealership, that since Scion is based around customization, could they order up the parts from the Toyota version, badges and everything, and make me a Toyota rebadge of the Scion. They told me they couldn't do it as it'd be like asking for a Hilux, another model that doesn't exist over here. Again I laughed and showed them the Chevrolet Cavalier I had converted to a Toyota Cavalier by ordering Toyota parts and badges directly from GM. Check mate Toyota. Enough of the bullshit. |

Whatever, it's made by Subaru and Toyota. Being turned off by a brand name is pretty lame.
