Wheel offset change handling?

I am considering 17x 8" rim width on 235 rubber.

Both 45 and 35 offset will fit. The 45 will keep the wheel centred on the hub, the 35 will make the wheel flush.

At a high performance level, has anyone noticed any handling changes at the 35 offset? Will the 35 offset be detrimental to the hub? ...thanks.

Yes there is a noticeable difference with near a 1" wider track difference from stock on +35mm offset wheels. I have +36mm offset Kosei K4R's in 17x8 size with 215/45-17 Kumho Ecsta XS tires and its harder to sling the car around/kick out the rear, it's much more stable and also more responsive to wheel inputs. Very good stability and responsiveness on track. With a narrower track, all else being equal, it would be slightly less stable and less direct in handling.
