Door wont stay open

So I have had my new FR-S for about one week now and I absolutely love it, but when I am getting in and out of the car the door keeps shutting on my leg...

I am used to pushing the door open and having it stick at one of the multiple "notches", but if I let go of the door while it still has any momentum, it hits the next notch "hump" and then starts to shut. It almost seems like they put too much grease on the notches and it just won't stick to any of them.

The only way I can get the door to not shut on me is to open the door to the position I want, stop its from moving and then release the door. I know I am knit picking here, but I was curious if anyone else has this problem.

This is your first coupe? Coupe has longer and heavier doors therefore its very easy to close, even on the slightest uphill

Yes this is my first coupe and I did notice that the door was heavier, but its still shutting on me even in the garage (which is completely flat), is that normal?

I don't know because I always hold my door with my hand and never let it wide open unguarded. Because you have the risk of heavy wind, which might blow your doors off, or dent other people's cars.

If its that much of an issue take it to the dealer. It's possible the door could be misaligned but then you would have a problem closing the door. Without seeing the door and putting hands ont it its hard to see if there is an issue with it. Car doors arent meant to be pushed open and freely swung about like a gate on a fence.

I always swing it open til i feel it drop into one of the detents then let go...habit from parking in tight garages/trying to fit too many cars in small areas.

The FR-S has very weak detents.

This is what I am doing, I open the door till I feel the detent, then let go, but the door seems to rock in the detent (hit the far side then comes back and shuts the door).

I think this is what I am experiencing, the detents just aren't as deep as the previous cars I have owned. I guess I will get use to it eventually.

This is common and not a known issue.

My Redline did this all the time. The door was incredibly light (Tuperware) and EVERYTIME I'd reach in to put groceries or something in the back, it would slam on my back. Drove me crazy.

If you swing the door open it will hit the end of its travel and bounce/spring back. Try a lighter touch.

Personally, I don't think this is that big of a deal. But that's me.

Normal for this car. I was actually commenting on this myself last night after going from my RSX into the FR-S. Luckily I always catch the door before it smashes my leg.
