BBQ @ Darren's Shop this Saturday!

Hey Portland area 86ers, if you didn't get my text this morning, then this is your reminder. Join a bunch of us at my SE Portland shop at 1pm on Saturday, April 27th, for a BBQ and tinker session. Potluck style, so bring something to throw on the Q and a few beverages to consume.

Let me know if you want to work on your car. I think I am lowering a couple of cars... @ilpad and spmeone else that I forget at the moment.

stockysnail 04-23-2013 02:59 AM

Mike @indesign and I will be swapping suspension so should be quick and easy as we won't need to take springs off, then I'll be installing Koni Yellow with RCE Yellow springs in the rear. Fronts aren't here yet so I'll install the rest later.

DarrenDriven 04-23-2013 03:03 AM

That works!

ilpad 04-23-2013 05:08 AM

Car desperately needs some low.

Lverasky 04-23-2013 12:47 PM

I off at 1PM, will come straight to the BBQ.

ilpad 04-23-2013 11:09 PM

I swung by Perrin at lunch today and @PERRIN_Maladin was kind enough to hook us up with some swag for the BBQ. Everyone on the Perrin staff is nothing short of awesome and their support of the community is top notch. Make sure u guys give them a shout out whenever possible!

digital_assassin 04-24-2013 03:56 AM

Hey Darren. I have engine oil, trans oil, diff oil, and a transmission bushing to do. It's all stuff I can do on my own at my house but the lift would make it super easy. My only real concern is nicking the fresh dip job trying to maneuver it back to the lift. If someone has some more technical stuff then let the lift go to them.

I bought a case of 12 of the Motul Gear 300 and only need 2 for myself since I'm doing Pentosin in the tranny. I will bring and sell for $20 each for those that want to do the rear diff. It will also work for the tranny too (MT).

DarrenDriven 04-24-2013 12:11 PM

Shouldn't be a problem, Kevin. We can push it back there using the wheels is grips instead of the body.

DarrenDriven 04-24-2013 12:12 PM

Looks like @Touge_ninja is coming down from Seattle with a few other peeps!

Kensurs 04-24-2013 02:26 PM

This should be awesome!

NickFRS 04-24-2013 06:32 PM

This is awesome! I'm doing a odd job sat morning to make some $$ for food. prob pick up my BBQ after that and head to Darrens. The BBQ i'm getting is my smaller one that will fit in the back of the Impreza. That being said if anyone else has a smaller BBQ it might be a good idea to bring.

I'll be doing my short shifter and maybe the trans mount bushing if the lift is free!

stockysnail 04-24-2013 09:46 PM

I have an electric BBQ, so it's a quasi BBQ if you guys need me to bring it.

Will the diff oil work for the AT too? I know the tranny fluid is different for AT.

digital_assassin 04-25-2013 12:15 PM

This won't work for your AT. You can only use Toyota World Standard ATF Fluid I think. It will work for your rear diff though.

Touge_ninja 04-25-2013 12:25 PM

How many people are showing up?so I know how much food to bring.

Chen 04-25-2013 02:49 PM

Bring fireworks!

Yes Mr Foreman's logoed grill. Since Nick has one too I don't think I'll need to bring mine.

Bring all the food! ;) Last time we did this sort of thing it seemed like there were 20 people there. Not everyone will eat though. Some stick to a liquid beer diet, or eat before they come.

Throw it in the passenger seat just in case..... imagine a world where we cook 20 hamburgers in under 20 seconds..... :eyebulge:

m.box.design 04-25-2013 08:23 PM

Nick, I'll just bring you some $$$, since I'll be driving everywhere that day.

BRZPDX 04-25-2013 10:44 PM

so how big is the BBQ? I'm planning on making steak bites or street taco's but if there is no grill space I'll need to cook it at home and bring it.

NickFRS 04-25-2013 11:05 PM

it's not the biggest BBQ in the world but it can fit 4 good size steaks. If @stockysnail and I both bring our foreman grill we could tackle the burgers on that and cook the dogs around the steaks. Anyone else planing on bringing a grill? @indesign sounds good to me!

one of these.

NickFRS 04-25-2013 11:11 PM

Was hoping my headers would be here before the meet but looks like they ship tomorrow! dratz!

BRZPDX 04-26-2013 12:31 AM

well I'm planning on going to that 503 Import chicks car meet for a bit to check it out before heading over to the BBQ. I think I will keep it simple and make steak bites so I don't need to prep there.

do we have time slots for the lift? I was hoping to get some Motul oil from Kevin to change out my diff fluids, if there is time to sneak that in..

Have to ask Darren. My trans mount bushing should only take 30 minutes tops. Sounds good dude! :happyanim:

m.box.design 04-26-2013 01:21 AM

i guess we'll try to be fast with all the lift times. like pit crew fast. lol.
i'll be heading to the 503 chicks meet too. i think josh is as well, should we all meet up beforehand?

digital_assassin 04-26-2013 02:58 AM

I'm hitting up the 503 thing first too.

Touge_ninja 04-26-2013 03:21 AM

well, cant wait. see you guys on saturday!!

Seanskeezy 04-26-2013 11:24 AM

I'm going to cars and coffee and be there about 845-9am ish with my friend. If I can get my friend that I bring to come then I'll roll with you guys to the 503 car show, otherwise I'll need to drop him off first, if I drive him that is.

stockysnail 04-26-2013 02:46 PM

Good thing about installing springs is they don't need to use the lift, just a floor jack. Plus Darren does them in about 45 minutes if he's able to do them or his little cousins.

Yup. Tyler and Travis are going to be on hand for a couple hours to lower your car and @ilpad's car. You need to bring $30 for their labor, though. They usually get it done in under an hour. :)

tech4pdx 04-26-2013 04:42 PM

Hey.. I'm bringing my 8 y/o with me tomorrow. Hope that's cool!

ilpad 04-26-2013 07:26 PM

Looks like we are going to be tearing apart alot of suspensions tomorrow. My sportlines are in my trunk ready to go. Looking forward to the event tomorrow and I may even make it over to Tim's shop for the 503 meet. Need to pick his brain about some vinyl i want to add.....
