The Stranoparts RTR build

Ok ok, not nearly as exciting as the STX builds, but I figured I'd keep you guys posted on our campaign with the FRS this year. We have stock Koni yellows, Strano front bar, muffler delete, and crash bolts. Running Rivals for now.

Here's video from the New Jersey Pro:

We're still dialing the car in, and Sam has been a huge help with setup so far. His advice has proven to be invaluable in helping us get this thing up to speed as my suspension set up knowledge is about 0 outside of Mini Coopers. We need to lower rear rebound some more, and I'm not sure we're going to make it an entire season on the Rivals right now. They're good tires, but I'm not sure they're "THE" tire.

I also need to get out of my Mini driving habits and start remembering I'm in a RWD car on street tires, which should help the pushing I'm getting haha. Next up is an air filter and some brake pads, then off to Spring Nationals.

Great video, seems like you were getting a lot of squall on those fronts. Looked cold that day so maybe that's why?

That second run was much better. I think two things here, I was talking to Sam about this, you are definately using some FWD habits when driving. Need to smooth it out which you did more of second run Not over drive it into terminal understeer. Get your shocks more evened out and less stiff, running high in the back won't get your car to rotate more, smoothing your driving will.

Lastly those tires... consider swapping for RS3 or Z2. You clearly have speed just need to switch off the fwd thinking.

Much agreed. We're definitely going to go down on rebound in the back even more than we already did for this event. Just found a picture of Holly with an inside rear in the air :confused0068: Granted, the lot was quite hilly/bumpy, but still...

Dave is that you? LOL It's Joe in the other twin. I couldn't put together a clean run on the right side course sunday morning. I had my 1st run DNS'd because we forgot to switch numbers from my co-driver and i red lighted the second run (.491) but picked up .7 seconds. I was so pissed, lol.

Yeah it is! Nice meeting you out there! :happy0180:

Sorry to hear about your Sunday troubles. I'm not going to lie, I watched video on Saturday night and made a list of things to fix on Sunday. Talked to Pallotta for awhile and he confirmed my list, so I was really happy that I knew where to make up time, but really worried that cold temps were going to keep me from being able to do it. Really glad that it seemed Sunday wasn't as bad as everyone expected. The brake stands before lining up I'm sure didn't hurt hahaha.

Hope to see you at some other events!

Definitely. Don't know if I'll make the DC Pro but maybe I'll venture to your neck of the woods soon.

So the season kind of fell apart for me between work and Holly's car busting a clutch. So, Wilmington was only the second national event I was able to do in her car. Anyways, finished 1st in RTR. I definitely had to work at it though. Drove somewhat conservatively on my last run day two because I had cone troubles on my second run. Made a few mistakes (blew the left hander after the slalom really bad), but did well enough to hang onto the top spot. To everyone in the class that was there, I had a TON of fun racing with you guys. Very very close all weekend, and I wouldn't want it any other way.

Here's video from both days:

Wow, I already had the thought I was going to need to, but this confirms Wilmington will DEFINITELY need to be a part of my abbreviated national 2014 season plan. Site looks gorgous. Big fast courses on concrete, not much more you can ask for

Oh, Great driving too congrats on the win. :respekt:
