Edit: Thanks - Fairfax area trusted shop?

I installed my header and have an exhaust leak from hell. One sounds like it's coming from the drivers side bank and the other at the overpipe connection.

I think the bolts just need to be tightened down, a few were a complete pain in the arse.

Can anyone recommend a shop in the fairfax area (FairOaks) to run it to? Somewhere I can get in, I just don't want to drive it far.

Thanks!

If you don't get it taken care of you know you can bring it to me, but I understand the fact that you don't want to go far.

Thanks Brady, I'm high on fumes right now...a trip up there might kill me lol

I'm hoping I can figure something out locally tomorrow but if not, I'll give you a shout.

Yeah, they're just usually pretty busy and a little out of my way (got a tight schedule tomorrow). It's a FA20Club header.

Try Nabisco. They have a large NOVA contingent that could recommend a shop. A run of the mill place might not try to shaft you if you sound knowledgeable.

Sorry, nothing I know in VA. I'm in Alexandria, but still take my car to Andrewtech in Gaithersburg for work.

Would PTuning be closer to you?

Did you re-use gaskets?

swift996 04-23-2013 12:34 PM

I took it up to Ptunning this morning. Fortunately they were able to squeeze me in this morning. They diagnosed the V-band was the main source. They also dropped the header and replaced the gaskets (I had some new OEM ones). It's running good but still sounds like there is a slight leak. Sounds like potentially the v-band.

OrbitalEllipses 04-23-2013 12:44 PM

Did you over torque the v-band?

No, it wasn't tight enough according to them. It still sounds like there might be a slight leak either from the head or the v-band. This is while driving so I'm not sure. I plan to replace the bolts at the overpipe and the gasket too (although they said it looked fine).

Hey Brady - I know Saturday will be busy for you, any chance you'll have time to take a look for any leaks? I don't think I can get up there before then.

swift996 04-23-2013 02:20 PM

Took her out for a spin for lunch, the sounds is very slight now...so maybe as things heat up they will seal up fine.
