Got an email from RaceTechnologies (US Brembo distibutor) that they have released prices and part numbers for their GT and GT-R kits for the FR-S and BRZ.

Note both front and rear options are available.

We expect stock in about six weeks for these kits and are in the process of updating our system.

I'm sure StopTech will follow suit very soon.

Damn, $7k for a BBK... In a car that costs $23k...

That's nearly 1/3 the value of the car!

Dave-ROR 01-25-2012 11:25 AM

Yeah I saw this yesterday too. Crazy pricing.

7thgear 01-25-2012 11:33 AM

buy nice pads for 200 bucks, out-brake everyone else, problem?

Levi 01-25-2012 11:35 AM

Will a 6 piston BBK fit under Volk 17" rims?

Yup...was in my inbox this morning when I got to the office...Prices are normal for Brembo GT/GT-R kits. For comparison...

350Z front, GT, 4-piston, 332mm @ $3295
350Z front, GT, 4-piston, 345mm @ $3395
350Z front, GT, 4-piston, 355mm @ $3595
350Z front, GT, 6-piston, 355mm @ $3795
350Z front, GT-R, 4-piston, 345mm @ $7895
350Z front, GT-R, 6-piston, 355mm @ $8195

Street prices tend to be 5% less than the MSRP.

Use the attached pdf template for the corresponding part number to determine if the kit will fit your wheels.

Damn. Somebody needs deep pockets.

DommerEOD 01-25-2012 12:30 PM

Wow! That's crazy.

But I bet you definitely get what you pay for... Your eyeballs slowing faster than the car! Must be awesome brakes.

If the stock brakes can engage ABS then the car will be tire limited. It'll still be tire limited with these brakes. You will have better modulation and pad wear, and increased thermal capacity for extensive track use on extensively modified cars. You will have more leverage as well, assuming it's setup correctly (F/R brake bias) you will get more initial force/bite, but once ABS engages it'll stop in exactly the same distance as stock brakes (assuming bias is correct). You will see a slight loss potentially due to the initial bite, but with larger heavier rotor mass comes more unsprung weight that's rotating. Many cars see INCREASED stopping distance with large brakes, the key is needing them for extensive track use on very powerful and fast modified versions of the car. For a street car, these brakes are 100% pointless beyond looks.

Quality wise, yes, these brakes will be very nice.

Truth is truth.

But seeing as how many of the posters here are more "form over function," the increased street cred that being able to say, "My car has a $3800 BBK on it" while the car is hard parked at the local coffee/burger joint/Kwik-E-Mart car meet will be the reason many spend big money on these kits.

Longhorn248 01-25-2012 01:16 PM

Since I don't plan on heavily tracking the car I'll be passing on the $5-7k worth of brakes. I bet they'll look real pretty though...

7thgear 01-25-2012 01:34 PM

the worst part about these crazy brake kits is the maintenance cost. Those rotors cost ridiculous cash.

Sounds perfect, unless you're one of these people:
