Suggestions for a new car?

I'm in the market for a new car. My Celica got totaled recently. :wtc: I'll be getting the money for insurance pretty soon. My guess is gonna be $5-6,000 tops. I'm gonna pull all the parts that I can that I bought for it. Still waiting for insurance to call me back and for the adjuster to value the car. Anyone think the rims are repairable? :shrugs:

Picture's:http://www.newcelica.org/forums/show...postcount=6310

But I'm looking for a new car, not sure what to get yet. Any suggestions?

So far, I have these in mind:
  • Another Celica (Doub't I'll find one in good condition around my area)
  • FR-S
  • IS300
  • WRX / STI
  • '97 Previa LE/SC (Possibly...)

Celicas are too slow. Get an FRS or WRX.

The FR-S isn't much faster than my Celica. There's no point of saying that.

Uh, I feel like this is too much of a biased forum to be asking such a question. Do you really think someone will come in here and say get an IS300 over the FR-S?

It all kinda depends on your budget and what you want/need. I'm guess you aren't looking for super practical.

I personally didn't buy a wrx/sti because of insurance and fuel consumption. IS300's are getting a bit old nowa days and always struck me as the "boy racer" of the lexus lineup.

I say keep it in the family and either go the cheap route and get something like an MR-2 or spend some money and get an FR-S. Or be practical and get a golf GTI.

I would :D.

IS300 is a nice sedan, but I6 is gas guzzler. I would get WRX/STI (haweye) if I'm on the market for a car with limited budget.

Actually I raced against my friend's Celica. I even drove it too, it's a nice car but it doesn't have that awesome driving feeling.

That is true, that's why I posted this thread in 2 forums. :D

I'm not really looking or something super practical, but sill being practical if that makes sense lol. :iono: And that is true about the IS, it is getting old. The one I'm looking at now is an '03 with 140,xxx miles. But it done up very nicely. I wouldn't got for an MR2 just cause it's a 2 seater. But if I did, it'd be a 2nd gen. And I'm not a big fan of european cars. :scared0016:

How bad is the IS with gas? And still now sure which gen of the WRX/STI to get.

Was it a GT A/T? I have a GT-S 6SPD and raced my friend that had an FR-S doing a 45 roll, I was a fender ahead most of the race and we were dead even til 110 when we both started slowing down. But I'm pretty sure he coulda won if he revved out more and shifted better. And I know the FR-S has a better driving feeling, test drove one awhile back. :burnout:

How about an MR2 Turbo? Or an RX-7 FD if you don't mind doing some maintenance on it.

I'd probably pick the FR-S if you can easily afford it, though.

A tard better MPG than STI with 90hp less. Some people like 04-05 bug eye STI, some like 06-07 hawkeye, it's all personal preference.

GTS Auto. I know the 6spd is fast, but overall the FRS 6 sp man is better because of the handling.

Need a back seat?

Miata? Or MR Spyder with a 2ZZ swap? :D

Ryeong86 04-22-2013 06:49 PM

Find a nice S14 :)

Zaku 04-22-2013 06:57 PM

..... So the op put in his name "Future FRS owner" and then ask an 86 oriented forum what new car to get, while putting FRS as one of the choices.

I just..um...hmm.... is this a trick question?

here is my Suggestion for you Sir

Get. A. BRZ.
