cusco catch cans difference
i am looking at getting a catch can for my turbo setup as we speak. i am 100% sure to go with a cusco product but 2 models are available, one sit horizontaly the one is vertical, the horizontal model sells for roughly 120$ where the other model sells for about 220$ what the heck is the difference, i ve been reading the info on ft86speedfactory.com but cant really figure it out!
help me out! 120$ http://www.jnaperformance.com/images.../965_009_A.jpg or 220$ http://ft86speedfactory.com/images/965010a.jpg |
Go with the newer more expensive vertical mount
The updated model has a mesh screen filter and draining capability http://www.cusco.co.jp/en/pdf/New%20...12313%20A4.pdf Sent from my Note 2 on Omega Rom |
I think one of them is a catch can while the other is an AOS...
Not sure though. Haven't looked at Cusco. |
If it has to be a Cusco product then you definitely want the $220 one but I would keep on researching. Personally, I like Crawford's OAS . It's pricey but worth the extra money to me. It's not the only quality OAS out there. I'm sure you can find one just as good for less money.

horizontal looks more bad ass to me (:

Saikou makes some functional cans that are reasonable in price: http://www.saikoumichi.com/OCC_explanation.htm |
I can attest to the vertical catch can actually working. I run a turbo setup and before the catch can i was having a problem with soot in the exhaust and coating the tips. I knew I was burning a bit of oil and figured that it was from the PCV so I decided to go with an OAS. The Cusco vertical mount does separate pretty well, but there is still a little vapor that gets by that can be seen as a very thin coating of oil in the return hose. The difference in my exhaust soot is amazing though, I used to be able to get maybe 25miles of hard driving before the exhaust tip would be coated black again. Now I get almost no soot. I havent cleaned the tips since IFO in Tuscon 3 weeks ago and i have done a 300+ mile drive with a lot of "spirited" driving thrown in (trying to keep up with some exotics and GT-Rs) and all I have is some residual soot that i think is getting blown out from further up the exhaust that catches on condensation. I am also getting on average 1 mpg better fuel economy.
As a side note though, i will likely be going to a closed loop setup like what Radium offers to completely get rid of any oil in the intake. |
