Pretty cool. Judging from around the 6 minute mark, it looks like they are putting the cars on the dyno after they come off the production line. Maybe they will be broken in from the factory? I can only hope!

Probably just making sure it works. Would be silly to assemble a car and charge 25k for it without checking if it runs ^_^

One of my buddy is an engineer and he tells me that cars produced these days don't really need a "true proper" break in. As all motors are sorta spun up before leaving the factory. I know that there is a hole bunch of arguments on break in periods, but he tells me that all production vehicles are taken to red line and tested for output levels before leaving the factory. Food for thought?

The topic of engine break in is perplexing to me. I view it as brake pads, the manufacturer tells you a few hundred miles of easy driving and the enthusiast says a few miles of foot stomping. I don't know which is the most effective but on a street car I think the difference is negligible and there are so many variables over the lifespan of the vehicle any argument about longevity would be moot.

Unless there is a specific statement in the manual that says I can't go over a certain rpm within a certain mileage I will be seeing what it can do within a few weeks of purchase. The car is meant to be driven is it not?

The mechanical parts have defects on them. Imagine millions of tiny craters on the pistons and cylinder walls. The break in period helps smooth out those craters and will allow your engine to last longer. New cars come with a slightly different oil to help speed up the break in process, and that is why manufacturers recommend you to do your first oil change at much later time.

Well that's why I didn't get into the "break in" topic. I just said what my buddy told me about how they spin up all manufactured cars these days before each and every vehicle leaves the factory to confirm that every vehicle meets performance standards. I know that there are two camps when it comes to "break in" periods/methods and I, definitely, would not go there... LOL
