trunk release quit working

The trunk release button in the cabin and on the keychain quit working. Only way into the trunk is via the key lock.

Is this a simple fix or a trip to the stealership?

There's a button inside the trunk on the left. Push it and it should start working. It's a trunk lock, only lets you use the key for security purposes.

I agree with the guy below. I had this happen to me and I started to panic and get pissed and wonder what happened and I had a toolbox in the trunk the day before and I think it slide into the button. The button is right inside the trunk on the driver side wall. Just push the button and it will turn on the trunk releases again, like the gentleman said below this is a security feature you can use when you have valet.

From the rate this question keeps popping up, it seems that just about everyone has had this problem. Any little thing in the trunk that touches this switch turns it off. Maybe a poor design?
Anyway, I think I'm gonna fab a little cover to Velcro over the switch, cover it in carbon fiber, claim its JDM( JDM yo!), and sell it on here for $100. I'm sure I could sell at least one....LOL

Hahaha...this is why it took 3 hours for the service department to prep the vehicle for delivery while I waited. All they had to do was put the auto-dim mirror on, hose down the car, and take the protective plastic off everything.

I swear, men must have a fatal allergic reaction to user's manuals or something. I know I do sometimes.:D
