head unit swap speakers sound flat and muffled

I'm new to car audio I just installed the Kenwood 630wbt head unit and everything sounds flat. even with equalizer settings there is very little to no bass. Do I need to do a complete audio swap: speakers, amplifier, crossovers and subwoofer?:iono:

Your Kenwood should be providing more power than the stock head unit to the tweeter and midrange, and if you wired it properly, you should still be using that factory amp to power the door speakers. My system sounded better after the HU swap.

Which harness did you use? Im suspecting that somehow you are no longer using the factory amp to power the door speakers due to an incorrect harness.. got a pic?

I'll try to provide a picture of the wiring tonight, thanks for responding! I also did not disconnect the battery during the installation, could I have fried something?

Think everything is hooked up correctly maybe I just need new speakers.

Sorry for the late reply. Wiring wise looks fine, did you get this Kenwood to scion harness through crutchfield or something? (Since I dont see any crimping/crimp caps) Let me check my deck when I have a chance to see which color wires are for the front speakers and get back to you.

the OEM speakers are actually not bad at all especially if you are not using an external amp.

The connectors came with the head unit, everything was plug and play. After a full disconnect and reconnect everything seems to sound better...(maybe a loose plug) Could definitely feel the difference in sound quality!
