I'm pretty sure you saw this vids, but seriously how moron drivers gets?

Here's uploader states

the video starts out slow but picks up, there are 3 curb hits, 1 360, about 6 accidents,3 cars in yards, and lots of cars out of control. Utah snow storm. Even after the drivers were warned not to go down the hill by people at the top and cops.

Even warned not to by ppl & even the cops, why ppl go down that hill? Or even try to get out of the house!

Yeah...sometimes it isn't worth risking your life.

trucks, snow.... lol

and the guys who lock up their brakes.... even funnier.... lol

That is one thing I don't get! In areas where there is heavy snow most never heard or use chains/cables. It's only in CA when there is snow on the ground, chains are required unless you have 4WD.

this vid is proof that AWD/4WD isnt enough most of the vehicles in this video (well the first part i've watched) are AWD vehicles like the old imprezza that almost kills everyone.

Ichi, I am amazed. This is Utah, not SoCal, that we are looking. I know that even if it rain in LA and lots of accident happens, but I would expect the Utah drivers at lease have some experience driving on snowing days.

How on earth did they keep so close the distance between one and the other car? I don't think even on the dry summer pavement they can stopped just in time for some emergency?? What the heck?

Furthermore, do they have snow tires equipped?

Up here in Canada this snowing days are also fun the drive, and even on hills. But I have not seen so much mess on a single road. That said, accidents do happen on a snowing days in Canada so well...

BTW, just saw a 350Z stuck to the medium on a 4 lanes way (2 lanes each) backward this past weekend (a sunny day up north). The back hits a light post and the police is already on scene. I am guessing a failed drift trial coming out of a left corner just 25 meters away....

lol - a little bit of snow and people panic and crash - yet sweden and norway etc seem to manage it!

You know what? In this kind of weather it IS the AWD/4WD cars/trucks that cause most of the accidents. Drivers in SUV/Trucks with *real time* 4WD (Honda Pilot/CR-V for example) think since their vehicles have 4WD so they are safe in this weather. Without proper driving skills and reactions, accident still happens.

Scary how careless those people are.

Slick snow like that is no joke, super easy to loose traction even with 4wd and off road tires.

reminds me of this video

Actually that Subie managed to regain control compared to the rest of the crashes later on in the vid.

Any vehicle on an icy road will be SOL unless they have studded tires or chains.

Ryephile 01-23-2012 07:44 PM

That was some massive glare ice. Nothing except studded tires would work on that.

i know this. i had a friend who owned an evo and thought he could rock summer tires in the winter just because he had AWD...... guess who lasted 1 month of winter w/o snow tires. he almost lost his EVO to a semi and he said that was enough.

i've seen many people destroy brand new cars because they think AWD is all they need.

Speaking of winter drivers...
