Anthonytpt's Car Journal
Scion FR-S (Manual; Argento; 2013 - Acquired 12/1/12)
Preface: I've started this thread to stunt the growth of my obnoxious signature block. I'm just tinkering around as I see fit and have no desire for forced induction. I'll update my journal accordingly. About the Driver: 5'7"; 135 lbs; track/autox novice with half a brain not to turn off the nannies for daily driving. I cannot determine what would prompt service beneath a brand new vehicle prior to my purchase. Additionally, they were persistent in trying to charge for an alarm system that wasn't even installed, and which I had opposed the purchase of the entire time. Brand new; also, how I usually park to avoid door dings. http://i.imgur.com/WEiRacPh.jpg Lights. http://i.imgur.com/WF89kxN.jpg Cooling Off. @CSG Mike and @CSG David provided me with the opporunity to attend the second round of the Berk Technology FT86Cup at Willow Springs International Raceway on April 20, 2013 with Extreme Speed Track Events. It was great being out there with other enthusiasts, albeit far more experienced than myself. I appreciated being able to take in some knowledge by way of ride-alongs (CSG BRZ & S2000), instruction and conversing with other like-minded owners. Unforunately, I didn't have the opportunity to install my new pads, SS lines and fluids, but I still managed to have a lot of fun experiencing the track in the beginner group.
Here are my slow times as a result of being stuck in the middle of the pack. I failed to remember to pull to the side and ask for a gap to get some better times around the track. The Bridgestone Turanzas started slipping after 3 laps, so I pulled off the track after lap 6. I was glad I did, because there were three accidents immediately following my exit: a Corvette went on an excursion off the track and punched a hole in the fence before landing in the parking lot; a Camaro took a turn a little too hard and upset his accelerometer, prompting the side curtain airbags to deploy and OnStar to call in; and a 350Z (?) skirted off the track. I'm definitely itching to go out again with some better tires and knowledge of the track. |

I'll post the few pictures I took from this weekend tonight, along with some older shots. Thanks for the reminder :D

MOAR PICS :D

@CSG Mike: The car looks too stock still since the majority of my purchases have been internal. I'll put up some more pictures after I get my wheels and tires from you. Maybe something from Tein, too. :P

I had the Kartboy short throw shifter installed by @Corner3garage yesterday evening and am extremely pleased. Shifting is delightfully short and solid. The shifter sits lower and the reverse lockout spring is firmer, but I find that to be assuring. My only regret is that I didn't do this sooner.

Sick build man!

Thank you @Jason@DSG! I'm glad I ordered the Kartboy short throw shifter from DSG Performance! I hope to experience more of your spectacular customer service downt the line.

I'm going to be posting something up for a week-long Black Friday deal starting later today that you'll be interested in. Tons of car bling! |
Time to go see how that shifter feels at the track :D
|
Totally is! I need to get you down for instruction too! I really should adjust my clutch pedal so it sits a little further back - I feel the engagement points don't match up.
